Scope and Contents
Contains papers and audiovisual materials collected by Peter Brosnan for his research on Cecil B. DeMille's 1923 and 1956 Ten Commandments films and for his documentary, "The Lost City of Cecile B. DeMille." The 1923 film was shot in the Guadalupe Dunes in California and excavated by Brosnan, resulting in the documentary. Includes audiotapes, videocassettes, film reels, digital files, interview transcripts, biographical research either typed or printed from the internet, press articles and clippings about the films, contracts and proposals for the excavation, photographs, negatives, and research notes. Interviews are mainly with those involved with the production of the films. Also includes nails from the making of the 1923 film excavated by Brosnan in Guadalupe. Materials dated approximately 1923 to 2022.

Biographical / Historical
Peter Brosnan was born July 6, 1952. He studied at the film school at New York University and became a writer and director. He is known for his most recent documentary, "The Lost City of Cecil B. Demille," as well as "Perfect Target" and "Hit List."

Arrangement
The collection is arranged into two series: 1. Peter Brosnan research on the Ten Commandments films, approximately 1923-2014. 2. Peter Brosnan materials on the film production of The lost city of Cecil B. DeMille and site excavation, approximately 1983-2014.
