The term Canadian referred to anything or anyone that originated from the Earth country of Canada.
In 2370, Ben told Sam Lavelle that William T. Riker was Canadian. When Lavelle, whose grandfather was Canadian, tried to connect with Riker via their apparent shared heritage, Riker corrected Lavelle, saying that he had actually grown up in Alaska (making him an American instead).
