Candlepower was a measure of light intensity.

During the 24th century, Galaxy-class starship computers could set the light level of a room to a specific candlepower. In 2367, Geordi La Forge didn't care for this ability, preferring to adjust the lighting to suit the mood he wished the room to have. (TNG: "Galaxy's Child")
