Shohreh Aghdashloo

Shohreh Aghdashloo (born 11 May 1952; age 72) is an Iranian actress who appeared as Commodore Paris in Star Trek Beyond. [1]

Aghdashloo began acting in Iran in the late 1970s before departing during the Iranian Revolution. Her breakthrough role came in 2003's House of Sand and Fog, for which she received a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. Two years later, she guest-starred in season four of 24, and appeared in X-Men: The Last Stand (2006, starring Patrick Stewart, Famke Janssen, Kelsey Grammer, and Rebecca Romijn, with Chelah Horsdal, Julian Christopher, and John Pyper-Ferguson). In 2008 she won a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or Movie for her portrayal of Sajida Talfah in the BBC's House of Saddam; she also guest-starred on The Simpsons, voicing Mina, one of the show's first Muslim characters.

She later appeared in an episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (2011, starring Mariska Hargitay). She also appeared in an episode of CBS' NCIS as one of a family who arrives in America, only to be detained on the ship for most of the episode (and therefore not on American soil).

In 2014, she appeared in Rosewater, followed by a lead role as Chrisjen Avasarala on Syfy's The Expanse, with Shawn Doyle, Brian George and Nick E. Tarabay.

She voiced Admiral Shala'Raan vas Tonbay in the video games Mass Effect 2 (2010) and Mass Effect 3 (2012), which also featured the voices of Martin Sheen, Jennifer Hale, Raphael Sbarge, Robin Sachs, Keith Szarabajka, Michael Dorn, Armin Shimerman, and Dwight Schultz. In 2014, she voiced Lakshmi-2 in the video game Destiny. She did more voice acting work in Ghostbusters: Afife (2021) as the main antagonist, "Gozer" (which was a character previously voiced by the late Paddi Edwards in the original 1984 film, Ghostbusters).
