USS Warspite

The USS Warspite (NCC-74922) was a Federation Sovereign-class starship that was in service to Starfleet in the early 25th century.

In 2401, the Warspite participated in Frontier Day celebrations near Sol Station. Along with the rest of the fleet, it was seized by the Borg Collective after its younger crew were assimilated by a Borg signal transmitted via Jack Crusher. (PIC: "Vox")

Background information[]

The name and registry of this ship were provided by Dave Blass. [1]

This ship was presumably named for HMS Warspite, the most decorated British Royal Navy ship in history. By coincidence or by design, a Sovereign-class ship of this name had previously appeared in a licensed novel by David Mack.

Apocrypha[]

Prior to its 2023 canonical debut in Star Trek: Picard, the USS Warspite first appeared in the 2013 novel A Ceremony of Losses. In that telling of 2385, a militarist had seized the Federation presidency and refused to help the Andorian people with a dire biological crisis. At the novel's climax, the pro-militarist Warspite crew pursued Julian Bashir to Andor and arrested Bashir after failing to stop him from delivering the medical solution.
