Vega

“Yes... The name of Yoda the Zoan is renowned in the darker corners of the continent. I suppose being his daughter would explain your fighting style... Still, you are no warrior, woman. I suggest you retire your blade before you shame your father's name any more.”
—Vega, in a conversation with Julia

Vega is a playable character from TearRing Saga: Utna Heroes Saga. He is a mysterious assassin who is known as Dhullam's Angel of Death. He is also the only character who is capable of wielding the ☆Shramm. Seven years prior to the game's events, he killed Krisheena's lover, Aldo, causing her to seek revenge.

Profile[]

After Julia is framed for the murder of the duchess of Zemseria, Vega is hired by Rentzenheimer to hunt her down. He eventually finds her in the Gram Forest of Wellt and challenges her to a duel. After noticing Julia's lack of malice, he is convinced that she is not responsible for the murder and realizes that Rentzenheimer has deceived him. He also gives her a Healing Fruit and enlists in Runan's army.

If Vega is sent with Holmes' army after the first route split, he meets Krisheena, who declares that she will avenge her lover. Some time later, he is challenged to a duel by Shigen, who has agreed to kill him at Krisheena's request. As the fight prolongs, he and Shigen become increasingly determined to kill each other. After Krisheena's unsuccessful attempt to stop them, Holmes intervenes and ends the duel. Later in the game, Vega can obtain the ☆Rukuud by defeating Rentzenheimer.

In the ending, Vega allows Krisheena to travel with him until they reach her home in Istoria, but only if she is not accompanying Shigen instead.

Personality[]

Vega is a serious and cold man who is distant from everyone around him. He never lets his guard down, even at events such as banquets. He believes that Julia is not fit to be a swordmaster due to her lack of willingness to kill.

In-Game[]

Recruitment[]

In Map 4, he appears as an enemy unit. Have Julia speak to him. They will then fight each other in a scripted battle. Once it ends, Vega will give a Healing Fruit to Julia and join the player's army.

Overall[]

Subjective: The following part of this article is based upon the editor's personal experiences and opinions, and therefore may not be applicable for all readers.

Vega is one of the strongest infantry units in Tear Ring Saga: Utna Heroes Saga, thanks to his personal weapon, Shramm. Shramm halves incoming damage, deals effective damage against monster enemies, and pairs well with Sol, which allows Vega to regenerate health. These abilities make him surprisingly durable—a rarity for Swordmasters, who are typically known for speed and offense rather than bulk.

His combat utility is apparent immediately. In Chapter 6, Vega handles reinforcements in the right corner and helps stall Norton, making it easier for Sasha to recruit him. In Chapter 7, he can use an Armorslayer to clear the Armor Knights and Tanks near Runan’s starting point.

In the 1st Route Split, it is highly recommended to send Vega to Holmes' route. The slower pace and indoor-heavy maps suit him well, and the route’s lack of cavalry means he can contribute to outdoor maps too. With easy training opportunities, reaching promotion won’t take long. Teaching him terrain skills like Mountaineer and Frontiersman is beneficial, especially for Chapters 11 and 16, where terrain can hinder his mobility.

In Chapter 16, Vega is one of the best options for handling Arch Mogalls, as Shramm’s monster effectiveness allows him to 2-round them while taking half damage. Paired with another infantry unit like Lionel, Barts, or Holmes, Vega can help 1-round the boss and speed up the map.

He also has utility in Chapter 21, where he can divert Kranion’s attacks. Shramm’s damage-halving ability allows him to tank Kranion’s breath effectively. However, if Shigen is deployed, he can handle this task instead, freeing Vega to deal with reinforcements in the top-right section of the map.

By the second route split, Vega’s role on Holmes' route diminishes. With the recruitment of Sherra, who overshadows his combat utility, it’s better to send Vega to Runan’s route. There, his primary contribution is obtaining Lukuud by killing Lentzenheimer. Lukuud is an incredibly powerful sword with high crit, monster effectiveness, and the ability to reduce magic damage. Vega only needs 6 Mastery procs to wield it, which is easily achievable.

By the third route split, Vega faces stiff competition from Yoda, who has better bases, skills, and the ability to wield Lukuud at base. It’s more ideal to keep Vega on Runan’s route and sending Yoda with Holmes, where Vega can handle reinforcements in Chapters 34, 37, and the Endgame. Though his influence wanes by this point, his contributions remain solid.

Vega is a consistently solid unit throughout the game. While he lacks Narron’s early-game dominance and can’t match the late-game chokehold of units like Sherra, Renee, or Yoda, he remains an asset in any playthrough. His unique durability via Shramm, flexibility across routes, and potential to wield Lukuud ensures that he stays relevant until the very end.
