Mountain Village (Awakening)

Mountain Village is a location from Fire Emblem Awakening. From Paralogue 20, it is the site of a battle where the Shepherds find Emmeryn hounded by Ardri and the Grimleal.

On the world map of Awakening, the location of Paralogue 20 is labelled as Mountain Village. This is likely not the name of the actual village, similar to the location called Peaceful Village where Paralogue 3 takes place. The village can be found in the highlands of an island plateau, nestled between undulating rocky outcroppings. The island itself is found in the middle of the ocean between Valm and Ylisse. It is the largest in an archipelago, resting closer to Valm's eastern coast than Ylisse's western one.

Story[]

Following rumors of girls being abducted for Grimleal sacrificial rites, Chrom and Frederick lead the Shepherds to an isolated mountain village. A village elder directs them to talk to a girl who escaped from the Grimleal. Shockingly, this girl turns out to be an amnesiac Emmeryn. Whether she survived her fall or came from the Outrealm Gate is unclear, as she has no memories of Chrom, Lissa, Frederick, anyone, or anything from her past life as Exalt of Ylisse. The village elder warns the Shepherds to be gentle with Emmeryn, yet before they can talk to her, news of the Grimleal approaching drives her toward them with the intention of sacrificing herself to save the villagers.

The Shepherds must rout the sorcerer Ardri and his men. If they visit the village, the elder will give them a Rescue staff and beg them to save Emmeryn. Emmeryn herself will not fight the Grimleal nor defend herself. The Shepherds must move quickly if they wish to rescue her. If she does survive the battle, she will join the Shepherds, despite having lost her memories, never to recover them.

Trivia[]

• "Mountain Village" is also the name of a village located in Valentia from Fire Emblem Gaiden; however, the Gaiden Mountain Village is located on the mainland of Zofia while the Awakening Mountain Village is located on an island. This island is in the same rough location as the island of Novis from Gaiden.
