“The nobility should not favor one subject over another. How can they maintain their fealty if you treat one so differently?”
—Seth, to Eirika
Seth is a playable character from Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones. A brave and clever knight of Renais, he serves as protector and advisor to Eirika and Ephraim. He is widely known as the Silver Knight.
Profile[]
Seth is the general of the Knights of Renais, the kingdom's elite cavalry force. Following the brutal invasion by the overwhelming forces of the Grado Empire, he follows King Fado's orders, fleeing from the country in order to protect Princess Eirika by leading her to safety in the Kingdom of Frelia. During their escape, the enemy general Valter attacks, gravely wounding Seth. During their fight, Seth manages to escape with Eirika and other knights under his command, but he is gravely wounded in the process. Despite this, he does not let his injuries keep him from fulfilling his duty.
When they reach Serafew, Seth and Eirika meet the fugitive bishop Natasha, who seeks their aid. Natasha confides in them about the Grado Empire's secret plan to destroy the Sacred Stones.
Seth is the first person to discover Orson's betrayal, noting his odd behavior.
As the journey progresses, Seth will either follow Eirika or Ephraim on their separate paths. If the player chooses to follow Ephraim, Seth approaches the prince, informing him that Eirika has ordered the entourage accompanying her to escort him on his journey to Grado. Conversely, if the player decides to follow Eirika, he continues to accompany her on her journey until both armies reunite in chapter 15.
King Fado entrusted the secret of the twins' bracelets to Seth, who relays this information to Ephraim and Eirika when they find themselves in need of the power of the relics the bracelets protect. When Eirika's bracelet is stolen by Colm, she dismisses the loss as the theft of a mere trinket, but Seth insists they pursue the thief. Later, he instructs the twins on how to use the bracelets to unseal a secret chamber containing the sacred weapons.
Epilogue[]
Seth returns to Renais with his newly crowned liege Ephraim and dedicates his life to protecting the royal family. If Seth has an A rank with Natasha, he will happily marry her and lead a peaceful life while dedicating himself to Renais' reconstruction. If he has an A rank with Eirika, he will marry her with Ephraim's blessing.
Personality[]
Seth is an exemplary knight who holds his duty in the highest esteem. He is stoic and deeply loyal to the Kingdom of Renais. His polite, calm demeanor allows him to focus entirely on his duties. He has difficulties expressing his feelings to people who have a higher social status, but is able to loosen up when talking to people of comparable or lower rank, such as Franz and Natasha.
A dedicated knight, Seth's devotion to duty remains evident even after being gravely wounded. He is highly perceptive and possesses a shrewd tactical mind, always concerned for the well-being of his comrades and watching over the welfare of the soldiers in the army.

Seth is arguably among the strongest units in the entire series. His starting stats are noteworthy for being on par with those of a legitimately promoted cavalier, with the fairly competent Franz only matching him around level 15/1. Shockingly, despite his outstanding start, Seth possesses solid growths across the board, a grand total of 325%, with Luck as his only 'weakness'. Seth typically has lower HP and higher resistance to all of the other cavaliers, with his other stats averaging between those of Kyle and Forde.
Seth starts with an A rank in both swords and lances, allowing him early command of the weapon triangle, and his high 8 move allows him to charge into enemy lines and put his good stats to use. Seth also possesses the Anima affinity which, thanks to the enemy's generally abysmal evasion rates, is at its strongest in this title. He easily fosters Support with Eirika, and can also support Franz relatively easily.
All in all, Seth is among one of the more consistent units in the game. He starts out strong and can hold his own up to the end of the game. While other Cavaliers, particularly Franz, will eventually be able to match or even surpass him, this only materializes later in the game, if at all. Seth lacks the critical flaw (low long-term potential) that holds most early-game pre-promotes in check, and the enemies, even very late in the game, simply are not strong enough to catch up to him, so he will be able to consistently stay ahead of them for the duration of the campaign. He can practically solo the game - in fact, doing so is widely considered easier than using other units besides him.

Base Kit[]
Seth is a Book I Sword Cavalry unit with decent starting stats at 32 Atk and 31 Spd, which are average for the time period, but nothing spectacular after many years. He does have a workable 69 physical bulk score but has only 22 Res for a mere 59 magical bulk score. Compared to his notoriety in his original game, Seth is a rather subpar unit that struggled to establish himself as anything beyond a mediocre unit, especially considering his unique weapon. He does have the benefit of a Resplendent Form for a much needed baseline boost to his stats. He also is also easily available as a 3-4 star unit, giving him some value as an easy merge unit.
Seth had a Ruby Sword as his default weapon which enhances his Weapon Triangle boost and penalty by 20%. His later Silverbrand is merely a 4 Mt stronger version of the Ruby Sword. If refined, it does give him a Speed Tactic 3 effect, granting a visible +6 to allies within two spaces of him so long as the movement types shared amongst allies receiving this buff does not exceed 2. Seth can build himself into a supportive Tactic bot as a result, though team building must be taken into considering if going with this route.
Swap allows Seth to exchange places with an ally that he uses the skill on, in some cases putting him in a better spot to protect allies or perhaps place an ally in his place for his own protection. Fortress Defense gives him a flat drop his Atk by 3 for a +5 to his Def. Finally Seal Attack Defense inflicts an Atk/Def-5 on a foe that he attacks through their next action after combat.
Counters[]
The Ruby Sword/Silverbrand immediately turns any blue unit into an instant killer for Seth as he receives too steep of a damage penalty to initiate on them and any damage he receives will likely burst him down. Blue Mages like Linde, Lute, and Mae will essentially vaporize him through his much lower Res. Micaiah will certainly overkill him thanks to her cavalry effective Thani and any sort of Cavalry effective weaponry can pierce his rather decent, but middling bulk.
Skill Inheritance[]
Seth can just prioritize becoming the best supportive unit for his allies and work with Silverbrand's Speed Tactic skill by giving himself Attack Tactic and also take either Defense Tactic or Resistance Tactic as his Seal so he can boost at least three of those stats for allies. If trying to ignore the team build limitations of the Tactic lines, Drive skills have looser terms for a slightly smaller boost and even the Joint skills allow Seth to reap the in-combat boosts to his stats. Fortress Defense Resistance gives Seth some much needed Resistance boosts on top of his existing Fortress Defense and even give him back an Atk point. On a budget, he can consider inheriting Steady Stance from Silas as well as Reposition since he is not likely to be initiating combat and is best used as a wall to protect a more valuable ally. Smite also works to push an ally further into enemy territory before they can then launch their own assault from a more aggressive position or even give an emergency push out of danger and use Seth as a bait shield. Skill B is flexible and skills like Chill skills can debuff enemies, Link skills give allies a boost whenever he uses his Support skill, and Renewal gives him back some health whenever he is damage and has somehow survived tanking a hit. Should Seth see combat, his best skills include Moonbow for the 30% def ignoring property while Bonfire can deal some meaningful true damage off of his decent Def stat.

Seth is a general of Renais, who some call the Silver Knight. This appearance sees him wearing a swimsuit for the beach as he escorts Princess Eirika on her summer vacation! |

Even dressed like this, he looks just as gallant as he does on horseback in full armor! By the way, I've heard that lei around his neck was a present from Eirika! |

The axe he's carrying features a seahorse design, and its blade is designed to look like a wave. It's even made from glass to give it a transparent look! |
