- 1851.06.27: Gained territory from Diocese of Salford
- 1911.10.28: Promoted as Metropolitan Archdiocese of Liverpool / Liverpolitan(us) (Latin) (with suffragan sees Hexham and Newcastle, Leeds, Middlesbrough and Salford)
