found: Email from Center of Military History Force Structure Branch, Nov. 22, 2010(In 1966, the Chief of Staff of the Army, Gen. Howard K. Johnson, directed that US Army Europe and Seventh Army, which were two separate Headquarters, would henceforth function as a single headquarters referred to as US Army Europe and Seventh Army. However, at the same time, he directed that there would be no consolidation of the two unit lineages; they would continue to exist as two separate entities. In April 2010, when USAREUR was reorganized under the Army Modular Force, and in accordance with the directions of the former CAS General Schoomaker, the lineages of USAREUR and Seventh Army were finally formally consolidated and the consolidated unit was designated as US Army Europe, the former Seventh Army is perpetuated as an integral part of USAREUR)
