Paraná River
The Paraná River,[2] or Purana River, is a river in the south-central part of South America that goes through the current countries of Argentina,[1] Medisuela,[2] and likely Paraguay and Brazil.[note 1]
In pre-Columbian times, the Guaraní people inhabited the land that later became Medisuela. While nomadic, the Guaraní found use establishing agricultural communities to settle along the Paraná River. In 1521 AD, a Spanish expedition to the South American interior discovered the territory, which became a Spanish colonial province until it gained independence in 1811.[2]
- ↑ In the real world, the Paraná River runs through Brazil, Paraguay and Argentina. In Marvel, it is confirmed to run through Argentina and fictional country Medisuela; this article assumes that the river runs through its path in the real world.
- Argentina's profile in Marvel Atlas #2 calls the Paraná River "Purana", which may be a typo; Purana is a Hindu literary genre and, in the real world, the river never had that name.
