Twilight Sword
The Twilight Sword was the flaming sword of Surtur, who used it to destroy Asgard during Ragnarök.
History[]
Capture of Thor[]
After Surtur captured Thor in Muspelheim, the God of Thunder broke out of his chains and began fighting Surtur and his minions. Surtur wielded the Twilight Sword and used its fiery power against Thor, but Thor countered the assault with Mjølnir and eventually destroyed Surtur's body. The Twilight Sword disintegrated with Surtur and was absorbed into his crown.[1]
Ragnarök[]
When Loki resurrected Surtur with the Eternal Flame, the Twilight Sword reappeared and grew with him to a gigantic size, and he began using it to lay waste to Asgard. When Hela tried to retaliate, Surtur raised the Twilight Sword and smashed it through her Necroswords, killing her and obliterating her body. This final strike embedded the Twilight Sword in Asgard's foundations, releasing a shockwave that further devastated Asgard. Moments later, Asgard exploded from the strike, killing Surtur and destroying the sword.[1]
Alternate Universe Versions[]
Mangog Unleashed[]
In an alternate universe, the Twilight Sword was made from Scabrite with the purpose of cutting a path through Asgard to the Eternal Flame and kept in the Infernal Forge on Muspelheim. Thor came across the sword while searching for Scabrite to fuse into Mjølnir so that he could stop Mangog. Thor recognized its power as Surtur announced it. Thor demanded that Surtur end his invasion of Asgard, causing Surtur to retrieve the sword and fight Thor with it. Surtur repeatedly got the Twilight Sword stuck into the ground, allowing Thor to run along it and get a chance to destroy Surtur's armor. Thor managed to knock the sword out of Surtur's hand and destroy Surtur. He then destroyed the Twilight Sword in order to give Mjølnir its power.[2]

The Twilight Sword was a weapon of tremendous power and durability. Its primary feature was its ability to launch large streams of flame that could burn through most materials. At full strength, the Twilight Sword could set the entirety of Asgard on fire and razed it to mere cinders when it was plunged deep into the core.

- In the comics, the Twilight Sword was created by Surtur exploding the home galaxy of the Korbinites, intending to set the universe afire. It was later used as a power source by Loki and Morgan le Fay.
