SCENE Elmo is preparing a "Little Furry Red Monster Parade" and practices playing his drum near Hooper's Store. After Elmo shows Alan his marching song, Alan asks him if there will be enough furry red monsters to join the parade. Elmo is certain that a lot of furry red monsters will come to march.

SCENE cont'd Elmo calls to all furry red monsters in front of 123 Sesame Street, but no one shows up, so Elmo decides to start the parade by himself. Zoe comes along and asks if she can join. However, Elmo notices that she is a little furry monster, but she's not red. Elmo wouldn't be happy marching in a parade without Zoe, so he decides to change the song's lyrics to have the parade be for "Little Furry Red and Orange Monsters."

SCENE cont'd When Elmo and Zoe march along the street, Telly comes and wants to be in the parade, so Elmo changes the song again to allow "Little and Big Furry Red and Orange and Purple Monsters." As they continue to march, Baby Bear wants to join and Elmo has to change the song again. Telly remarks "The song's gettin' kinda long."

SCENE cont'd The parade makes its way to the yard and Big Bird wants to be in the parade. After Elmo changes the parade song again, he asks if anybody else wants to be in the parade. When they start to march again, more people want to be in the parade including Gladys, Narf, Mel, a blue martian, a Honker, a Dinger, a penguin, a chicken, and a tomato (Joey Mazzarino).

SCENE cont'd Baby Bear tries to make a new parade song but the problem is, it's too long! Big Bird says that if they sing that song, they'll be here till a week from Saturday, "whenever that is."

SCENE cont'd Elmo solves the problem by making it "The anybody who loves to march in a parade, parade!" and now everybody can join!

SCENE cont'd Alan watches and figures since he's "an anybody" and loves parades, he can be in the parade too. Elmo calls Alan to join, and everyone marches down Sesame Street and sings the parade song. After a brief word from the tomato, he tells the others to wait for him to "catch up."
