Close friends and family attended the wedding
White Stripes drummer Meg White has married fiance Jackson Smith at ex-husband and bandmate Jack White's Nashville home, her publicist said. Jack and Meg White were married for four years and divorced in 2000, but continue to record music together. The event on Friday was part of a double wedding, which also saw Jack Lawrence and Jo McCaughey marry. Lawrence plays bass player in Jack White's other musical projects, The Raconteurs and The Dead Weather. Gig cancellation Smith is the son of punk singer Patti Smith and the late guitarist Fred "Sonic" Smith of the rock band MC5. The wedding, held in Jack White's garden, was attended by a small party of close friends and relatives. Rock band White Stripes are set to play live together for the first time since cancelling their UK tour and a string of US dates in 2007. In February, the band performed on the NBC talk show Late Night With Conan O'Brien. The duo were previously forced to pull out of their planned performances because Meg had suffered from acute anxiety. The group, from Detroit, Michigan, first achieved commercial success with their fourth album, Elephant, in 2003. It topped the UK chart and spawned their breakthrough hit Seven Nation Army.
