1732: I was hoping that today's match would be a gentle kickabout in the afternoon sunshine, giving me time to treat you to this picture. Didn't turn out as planned - for which I am grateful of course. But hopefully, there's a few people out there still reading to appreciate it. Footballers and fashion eh? A match made in...
"I think this is the one competition where performance is more important than result, so I don't think the contentious decisions will cause anybody to lose any sleep... maybe the performance from the penalty spot is more worrying for Man U than the fact that Evra had been fouled before the second goal."

Man Utd boss Sir Alex Ferguson on Chelsea's second goal: "The referee clearly saw the foul, he's (Ballack) clearly elbowed him (Evra) in the face. I'm disappointed because he's stopped the game twice before when he thought there were serious injuries. That incident cost us the game really. Yes, we have a grey area with play stopping - we've said it time and again."
1720: And by the way, Evra's penalty was comically bad. He just passed it to Petr Cech.
1717: Manchester United do have a point about Chelsea's second goal. Referee Chris Foy had stopped play on a couple of previous occasions when players were down injured, but not when Patrice Evra was clearly fouled by Michael Ballack. It's that old bugbear: inconsistency.
1714: And there goes the champagne as Chelsea celebrate their fourth win in the Community Shield.
1712: John Terry and Frank Lampard lift the Community Shield together, as streamers are fired into the sky. Carlo Ancelotti looks satisfied, I'd say, but not much more. Good start for the Italian though, especially after Chelsea made a rather uncertain start to the game.
1710: And now Chelsea's turn. Incidentally, the FA has pledged £1 for every person at Wembley today to the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation. Nearly £86,000 earned. Good stuff.
1708: Manchester United's players make the trip up the Wembley stairs. If you think this is nothing more than a friendly, you should see Wayne Rooney's face. He is absolutely fuming.

1656: At the final whistle, Michael Ballack and Patrice Evra appear to be making peace - but not Fergie. The United boss is making his point in no uncertain terms to ref Chris Foy.
1654: FULL-TIME Chelsea 2-2 Man Utd
Wayne Rooney's had a quiet ga... the England striker runs onto Ryan Giggs's pass and calmly slots it past Petr Cech. Penalties o'clock. Touch of offside about that goal. Might have been level, just.
1652: GOAL Chelsea 2-2 Man Utd (Rooney)
1651: Ashley Cole gives the ball away from a free-kick, and United break. Michael Owen picks up the ball out right, takes it past Ricardo Carvalho and is brought down - but Petr Cech deals with Ryan Giggs' free-kick.
1649: Free-kick from Ryan Giggs and Michael Owen gets his head to it ahead of Petr Cech. The ball loops up in the air, and Rio Ferdinand is on the end of it but can't get his header on target. Chelsea now have less than two minutes to hang on.
1646: Michael Owen's first meaningful contribution is to receive a yellow card for a deliberate handball as he challenges with John Terry for Fabio's long ball. Oops. Four minutes remaining now.
1644: Salomon Kalou replaces Nicolas Anelka for Chelsea. Carlo Ancelotti seven minutes away from his first bit of silverware with Chelsea.
1640: Patrice Evra comes in hard on Michael Ballack, playing the ball first but taking a big chunk of the Chelsea man as well. Those two are not likely to sharing a post-match glass of wine. A friendly? Not a chance.
BBC Sport's Phil McNulty at Wembley: "Manchester United are furious as Chelsea take the lead and they have a case. Evra was clearly impeded by Michael Ballack - although once referee Chris Foy failed to give the foul Chelsea were under no obligation to put the ball out. The complaints rest with the decision, not Chelsea's failure to instigate a break in play so Evra could be treated. Should Ben Foster have done better with Lampard's shot? I'm afraid so."
1637: Good low save by Ben Foster from Didier Drogba. That might help the keeper's confidence after a shaky afternoon. And now Chelsea bring on Deco for Florent Malouda.
1635: This is very tasty now - although this may take the sting out of it. Manchester United are making four - yes, four - substitutions. Park, Berbatov, Fletcher, O'Shea off. Giggs, Owen, Scholes and Fabio da Silva on. Owen gets the biggest cheer from the United fans.
Patrice Evra is clutching his face after being body-checked by Michael Ballack. Play on, says referee Chris Foy. Chelsea win back the ball and counter-attack, Didier Drogba squaring for an unmarked Frank Lampard. Ben Foster gets two hands to the shot but can't stop it crossing the line. The United players are furious, claiming Evra has a head injury. He doesn't though. Unless his head is located in his chest. All in danger of kicking off.

1625: A change for Chelsea now as Michael Ballack comes on to replace Jon Mikel Obi. 25 minutes remaining, and 1-1. If we're still all square at full-time, it's straight to penalties.
1623: Ah. Sorry, Nani. I have done you an enormous disservice. The winger appears to have damaged his collarbone or shoulder as he fell under Terry's challenge... and in fact, he can't continue. Antonio Valencia is on.
1620: Antonio Valencia should be on shortly. Meanwhile, Nani is left rolling about after a firm challenge by John Terry. It's like Cristiano Ronaldo never left.
1617: Nicolas Anelka lets rip from the edge of the box, stinging Ben Foster's hands but nothing more.
Florent Malouda chests down Frank Lampard's pass and volleys it towards Didier Drogba, who goes up with Ben Foster. The keeper only gets the slightest of touches and Ricardo Carvalho heads in the loose ball. Not been a great game by Foster, who made a better connection with Drogba than the ball.

1610: Wayne Rooney pulls the trigger but Ashley Cole is there with a well-timed block for Chelsea.
1608: Florent Malouda picks up Frank Lampard's excellent through-ball on the left and teases his marker before firing the ball across goal, but it pings off John O'Shea.
1606: Dimitar Berbatov effortlessly brings the ball down, turns, and advances down the right, before being tripped by John Terry. Free-kick, but Nani's delivery headed away.
1606: Yep, Bosingwa replaces Branislav Ivanovic for the second half, which is under way now.
1603: Ah yes, if only Carlo Ancelotti played Champ Manager... but wait, I think I just saw Jose Bosingwa walking out with the Chelsea players.

1549: Thoroughly entertaining first half, Chelsea showing signs of improvement after a shaky start.
1548: HALF-TIME Chelsea 0-1 Man Utd
BBC Sport's Phil McNulty at Wembley: "Nani has been hugely impressive so far, but it does not pay to get too excited too soon by Manchester United's "other" Portugal winger. No-one doubts he has talent, what he has not shown so far in his Old Trafford career is consistency. He will get his chances in this campaign and this is a good start - but only a start."
1544: Short corner by United, Nani to Darren Fletcher, whose curling shot is tipped over one-handed by Petr Cech. Jose Bosingwa warming up for Chelsea, which may be some relief for Branislav Ivanovic, who has been tormented by Nani in this half.
1542: Tell a lie: Nicolas Anelka finds a yard of space and fizzes a low shot inches past the post. Decent effort.
1541: Chelsea enjoying some possession, but not doing a whole lot with it. Five minutes until half-time and United still leading 1-0.
1536: Nani turns on the after-burners to get past Branislav Ivanovic but from the tightest of angles, he can only find the side netting with his shot. Impressive from Nani so far though.
1534: And again! Foster gets his feet all wrong as the back-pass comes to him, and is fortunate to escape. Fabio Capello is watching.
1533: With Didier Drogba bearing down on him, Ben Foster chooses precisely the wrong moment to get a back-pass stuck under his feet. The United keeper, looking to make hay while Edwin van der Sar recovers from a hand injury, eventually clears off the Chelsea striker.
1532: Florent Malouda finds Ashley Cole on the overlap and Michael Essien meets the cross with a flying header over the bar. Darren Fletcher looks OK. Scotland face Norway in a World Cup qualifier on Wednesday.
1529: Florent Malouda mis-hits his shot in rather embarrassing fashion. "A pre-season shot" is the verdict on BBC 5 live. Uh-oh... look away, Scotland fans, Darren Fletcher is hobbling.
1527: Corner for United. Petr Cech catches. The Chelsea keeper's new kit is dark navy with fluorescent green trim, fashion fans.
1524: Ashley Cole makes progress down the left... and runs the ball straight out of play. Some United fans quite enjoyed that. The meanies.
Chris Waddle on BBC 5 live: "I'm very disappointed with Chelsea. They don't tackle, they don't mark anybody. They're just letting United do what they want."
BBC Sport's Phil McNulty at Wembley: "Nani is tormenting Branislav Ivanovic on the left as Wayne Rooney is finally released from the flank duties that restricted him last season - and this will be a pivotal tactical switch for Manchester United with Cristiano Ronaldo gone. It is where he is at his best and if anyone has the natural talent to help compensate for such a loss it is Rooney."
1518: Dimitar Berbatov leaves Jon Mikel Obi for dead after playing a one-two with Ji-Sung Park - but Petr Cech is out quickly to smother the shot. Chelsea living very dangerously here.
1517: Nearly two. Dimitar Berbatov in acres of space on the right and he finds Wayne Rooney with his cross. Rooney nods back across goal for Ji-Sung Park but Petr Cech dives low to his right to make an excellent save.
1514: The threat is all down the left for United, where Patrice Evra and Nani are linking up nicely against Branislav Ivanovic - who just as I am typing that trips Evra just outside the area to pick up a yellow card.
Big season for Nani - and that's not a bad way to start it. He picks up the ball on the left, steps inside the challenge of Branislav Ivanovic and shoots right-footed into the far corner. The ball comes through a bit of a crowd, but I wonder if Petr Cech might be a bit disappointed with that.
1511: GOAL Chelsea 0-1 Man Utd (Nani)
1506: Corner for Chelsea... WOODWORK! Frank Lampard delivers from the left, Didier Drogba gets a slight flick-on and Branislav Ivanovic is three yards out, only to see Patrice Evra get his head to the shot and deflect it onto the bar.
1504: Dimitar Berbatov gets a yellow card for rather foolishly sticking out a leg to try to block a free-kick when he was only a few yards away. Bit fussy from referee Chris Foy though.
1503: Didier Drogba has a nibble from 30 yards out, bounces just in front of Ben Foster, who gathers at the second attempt.
1501: And that was well over a minute. Too right. Wembley is basked in sunshine as Chelsea kick us off.

1453: Here we go then. Carlo Ancelotti leads a team out at Wembley for the first time in his career. It's not the first time he has come up against Sir Alex Ferguson. Milan beat United 3-0 in the 2007 Champions League semi-final - a performance the Italian described as the finest under his tenure.
BBC Sport's Phil McNulty at Wembley: "Wembley's much-criticised playing surface was given a thorough soaking prior to kick-off. Will be interesting to see how the latest incarnation plays on the big occasions this season. New Chelsea coach Carlo Ancelotti has gone straight for a strong side while Sir Alex Ferguson is more experimental. Hardly a defining game but always good for some early sparring between the main contenders."
Wilkins on Chelsea's lack of signings: "Real Madrid have blown everyone away in the transfer market. We've been in for numerous players but the prices have been too high. I think that's wise of the owner not to pay those prices."
Chelsea assistant boss Ray Wilkins: "When Chelsea and Manchester United meet, it's always an important game. We obviously want to win the game - but it's vitally important we come through injury-free. We have worked extremely hard in pre-season and we feel we're in fine fettle."
1444: Coventry hang on for a 2-1 win over Roy-Keane's-Ipswich, Chris Coleman's side becoming only the fourth team in the Champ to open the season with a win. Many have tipped them to struggle this season.

1429: Look, I know it's a bit wrong that football is played in early August, but at the same time, it is so comforting to know it's back - and it's not going away for aaages. 1409: Not been a great weekend for East Anglian football so far. Norwich annihilated 7 (seven)-1 at home to Colchester yesterday. Roy Keane's Ipswich
although still a little under half an hour remaining.
1406: And here's why: Ancelotti has his first chance to make his mark on English football, and we'll get to see how Manchester United might shape up in the post-Ronaldo era. Will Wayne Rooney thrive in a central role? Can Dimitar Berbatov start to justify the price-tag? Oh yeah, and there's little Micky Owen to consider too…
