Rocastle had been a big success at Easter Road

Craig Rocastle has left Hibs to return to Chelsea.

The 23-year-old midfielder enjoyed a successful loan period at Easter Road but wants the chance to prove himself at Stamford Bridge.

Rocastle said: "Chelsea have asked me to come back down and train with them because they have got a few injuries at the moment.

"If there's any chance for me to play in the Chelsea first team I don't think anybody could begrudge me that."

But Rocastle admitted he might be happy to return to Easter Road in the future.

"Obviously I want to try again with Chelsea but if it does not work out I would never say I wouldn't come back to Hibs.

"I got on very well with the manager, the rest of the players and the fans there and I enjoyed my time in the SPL."

Hibs manager Tony Mowbray appeared slightly sceptical about Rocastle's motives however, with speculation over a possible move to Sheffield Wednesday.

"Craig has told me he has not arranged anything with anyone else and that he is just going back to Chelsea," he told The Herald.

"If he does move quickly then it will be evident that he has, after all, been working away behind the scenes."
