Norfolk's Coastal Beaches

The Norfolk coast has some of the best beaches in the whole of the United Kingdom, stretching from the wash at King Lynn Norfolk and passing through Brancaster, Blakeney, Cromer, and Great Yarmouth norfolk on your way east towards Lowestoft along the coastline. They are some of the Jewels of East Anglia and make for wonderful holidays. Information on them is included on this website

In addition to beaches, there are a number of amazing towns and villages nearby that are worth visiting including Burnham Thorpe and Sandringham.

If you are looking for some retail therapy, you are spoilt for choice around North Norfolk. There is an eclectic selection of independent businesses in the area, notably in Burnham Market, Burnham Deepdale and Holt. You will also find local shops in Wells and along the main coastal roads.

The North Norfolk coast is very popular for holidays and weekend breaks. There are a range of accommodation options to suit all budgets and families including traditional hotels, coastal self catering cottages and caravan parks. Pubs and restaurants abound along the main coastal road with something for everyone.

Things To Do

There are plenty of great local attractions and things to do at the Norfolk coast including golf courses at Heacham and Old Hustanton, the Sea Life Sanctuary and arcades at Hunstanton and crabbing from the walls at Wells next the Sea. Many visitors come to Blakeney to see the local seal colonies and there are several farm shops and places to stop and eat along the coastal road between villages.There is also the popular Holkham Hall and Sandringham estate a short road trip away.. The famous Norfolk Lavender at Heacham has around 100 acres of lavender fields and an oil distillery, plus on-site gift shops and restaurant. For those more adventurous amongst us there is the option of windsurfing and kite surfing from the beach at Old Hunstanton

Holkham Hall is a stately 18th-century country house located next to the village of Holkham,North Norfolk, England set within an extensive walled estate. There are a number of things to do on the estate including cycling, walking tours and boat hire. Holkham hall also caters for live music events throughout the year and you can also have your wedding on the estate.

Sandringham House

Sandringham Houseis a grade two listed country house in the parish of Sandringham, North Norfolk, and is one of the royal residences of Queen Elizabeth II. The British Royal family acquired the estate in 1862 and It has been the private home of four generations of British Monarchs since then,King Edward VII, King George V, King George VI and the present Queen Elizabeth II who inherited it from her Father in 1952. The house sits within a 20,000 acre estate with wonderful gardens and much of it is open to the public throughout the year with marked trails and tours. There is also a shop and restaurant. It is dog friendly with good disabled access.

Norfolk Coast Path

The Norfolk Coast Path runs for 84 miles around North Norfolk from Hunstanton to Hopton-on-Sea, with much of the walking trail running through the Norfolk Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Internationally renown for its wildlife including winter flights of pink footed geese, it provides an experience that includes seaside towns and villages, amazing tidal marshes teeming with wildlife, coastal walks, fantastic wide sandy beaches and stunning pine woodlands. An opportunity to view Norfolk's rich history

Norfolk is a national treasure, and has an amazing history including the first Prime Minister Sir Robert Walpole to the famous Lord Horatio Nelson. In Burnham Thorpe you will still find the pub visited by the great Admiral. Elsewhere in Hingham you will even find a connection to Abraham Lincoln! We have a number of interesting myths including Norfolk’s legendary Black Shuck, the name given to a ghostly black dog which is said to roam the coastline and countryside of East Anglia. Now it is a well known local Gin. .

Management of the coast through the Norfolk Coast Partnership

The Norfolk Coast Partnership was set up to conserve and enhance the natural beauty of the Norfolk Coast area.The coast is a protected landscape that covers over 450 km² of coastline and agricultural land from The Wash at Kings Lynn Norfolk in the West through coastal marshes and cliffs to the sand dunes at Winterton in the East.
