Starred with Richard Wilson in the Olivier nominated hit political comedy Whipping It Up (director: Terry Johnson).

Perhaps best known as Nick Swainey in the multi-award winning BBC sitcom One Foot in the Grave (1990-2000), he also featured in the original comedy mock documentary People Like Us, made 3 series of the international hit children's drama Woof!, 3 series of Alexei Sayle's Stuff, with Angus Deayton and Jan Ravens, and once played Mark Thatcher in the political sitcom Dunrulin'.

In 2006 he played the lead in the European premiere of Steve Martin's The Underpants at the Old Red Lion Theatre. Other London theatre includes An Evening with Gary Lineker (Duchess), Tariq Ali's and Howard Brenton's New Labour satire Ugly Rumours (Tricycle), The Ghost Train (Lyric Hammersmith), C4 Sitcom Festival (Riverside) and a rarely performed Ionesco play, Journeys Among The Dead (Riverside).

Outside London he played Felix in Elly Brewer's and Sandi Toskvig's Shakespeare deconstruction The Pocket Dream (York Theatre Royal) was Brian in Terry Johnson's Dead Funny (Nottingham Playhouse), toured with Butterflies Are Free, appeared in The Winslow Boy and The Trial of Lady Chatterley (Nottingham Playhouse) and appeared in Richard Hope's brilliant black comedy about serial killers and the press, Good Copy, in which he played a paedophile priest opposite Robert Bathurst's prostitute murderer (West Yorkshire Playhouse).
