Copero/Legends

"Files say the Mitth family runs things on Copero. Is that right?"
"Their shipbuilding business has hit some hard times. House Inrokini bailed them out with a huge investment, so they're the real power these days. Not that Mitth advertises the fact, of course."
Theron Shan and Pova[3]

Copero was a planet of the Chiss Ascendancy in the Unknown Regions. It was the location of the Chiss' largest shipyard.

Ancient ruins on Copero

Copero was a terrestrial[2] planet located in the Copero system of Chiss Space in the Unknown Regions. Under the control of the Chiss Ascendancy, it was home to the Mitth family, one of the Chiss Ruling Families, and thus was located on the Path of the Houses, a hyperlane that ran through the Ascendancy's core territory, along with the homeworlds of many other Ruling Families. Copero was also the location of the Chiss Ascendancy's largest shipyard.[1] The planet had a breathable atmosphere and standard gravity and was predominantly covered in mountains.[2]

Fauna[]

The colder, icier areas of the planet were populated by large, hairy wampas and feline Pantran whitefangs. The Ginx and Orobird inhabited the planet's urban areas.[2]

History[]

Sith Emperors holomap on Copero

Sith Emperor's holomap was kept in secret on Copero.

After the revelation that Theron Shan was the traitor behind the attacks on Iokath and Umbara, the commander of the Eternal Alliance broadcasted a galaxy-wide message on the HoloNet asking for any information about Shan's location.[4] The message reached Aristocra Saganu from the Chiss Expansionary Defense Force who personally arrived at the Alliance base on Odessen, revealing that Shan was on Copero under protection of Syndic Zenta from House Inrokini. Trying to solve both problems, Saganu asked the Commander to deal with both traitors. After arriving on Copero, Raina Temple from the Chiss Ascendancy and the Commander fought their way through the city, eventually reaching Zenta in the Inrokini shipyard. After a small confrontation Zenta revealed that Shan betrayed her.[2] Shan, who previously obtained information about Copero,[3] was only after a holomap kept in the ancient ruins that had the location to a superweapon stored by the Sith Emperor. After Shan learned about the superweapon's location, he destroyed the computer terminal. As Shan and Valss, a Force-sensitive Chiss, prepared to leave, the Commander and Temple arrived to stop them, but Valss stayed behind to buy Shan enough time to escape. After the Commander killed Valss, they returned to Odessen and tried to figure out Shan's next move.[2]

Behind the scenes[]

Copero was introduced in the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas, authored by Daniel Wallace and Jason Fry, which placed it in grid square F-9.[1]
