Lt.-Col. Sir John Henry Guy Nevill, 5th Marquess of Abergavenny was born on 8 November 1914.1 He was the son of Major Guy Temple Montacute Larnach-Nevill, 4th Marquess of Abergavenny and Isabel Nellie Larnach.1 He married Mary Patricia Harrison, daughter of Lt.-Col. John Fenwick Harrison and Hon. Margaret Olive Edith Levy-Lawson, on 4 January 1938.1 He died on 23 February 2000 at age 85.3
He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He was educated at Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG.1 He gained the rank of officer in 1936 in the Life Guards.4 He was styled as Earl of Lewes between 1938 and 1954.5 He fought in the Second World War, where he was mentioned in despatches.4 He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1945.4 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in 1946 in the Life Guards.4 He held the office of County Councillor for East Sussex between 1947 and 1954.4 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Sussex in 1948.4 He gained the rank of honorary Colonel in 1948 in the Kent and Company of London Yeomanry.4 He held the office of County Alderman for East Sussex between 1954 and 1962.4 He succeeded as the 5th Marquess of Abergavenny, co.
