Sir Griffith Williams, 6th Bt.1

Sir Griffith Williams, 6th Bt. was the son of Sir Hugh Williams, 5th Bt. and Anne Vaughan.2 He married Catherine Anwyl, daughter of Owen Anwyl, on 7 April 1697.3 He died in July 1734.3
     He succeeded as the 6th Baronet Williams, of Penrhyn, co. Caernarvon [E., 1661] on 22 March 1686.3 He held the office of High Sheriff of Caernarvonshire from 1707 to 1708.3 He lived at Pant Glas, Ysbyty Ifan, Caernarvonshire, Wales.3 He lived at Marle, Conway, Caernarvonshire, Wales.3

Sir Thomas Prendergast, 2nd Bt. was the son of Brig.-Gen. Sir Thomas Prendergast, 1st Bt. and Penelope Cadogan.2 He married Anne Williams, daughter of Sir Griffith Williams, 6th Bt. and Catherine Anwyl, on 11 January 1739.1 He died on 23 September 1760, without issue.1
     He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Prendergast, of Gort, co. Galway [I., 1699] on 11 September 1709.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Clonnel [Ireland] between 1727 and 1760.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) [Ireland] in 1733.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Chichester between 1733 and 1739.2 He held the office of Postmaster-General [Ireland].2 On his death, his baronetcy became extinct.2

John Smyth, 1st Viscount Gort1

John Smyth, 1st Viscount Gort was born in 1741.1 He was the son of Charles Smyth and Elizabeth Prendergast.2 He died on 23 May 1817, unmarried.1
     On 23 September 1760 his name was legally changed to John Prendergast on the death of his uncle, Sir Thomas Prendergast, 2nd Bt.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Carlow between 1776 and 1783.1 His name was legally changed to John Prendergast-Smyth.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Limerick between 1785 and 1797.1 On 14 January 1785 his name was legally changed to John Smyth on the death of his brother, Thomas Smyth.1 He held the office of Chamberlain of Limerick.1 He was created 1st Baron Kiltarton of Gort, co. Galway [Ireland] on 15 May 1810, with a special remainder to his nephew, Charles Vereker.1 He held the office of Governor of County Galway between 1812 and 1817.1 He was created 1st Viscount Gort, co. Galway [Ireland] on 16 January 1816, with a special remainder to his nephew, Charles Vereker.1
