Hon. David Hervey Erskine was born on 5 November 1924.2 He was the son of Major John Francis Ashley Erskine, Lord Erskine and Lady Marjorie Hervey.2 He married, firstly, Jean Violet Douglas, daughter of Lt.-Col. Archibald Vivian Campbell Douglas and Elizabeth Cicely Bunsen, on 5 March 1953.2 He married, secondly, Caroline Mary Lascelles, daughter of Rt. Hon. Sir Alan Frederick Lascelles and Hon. Joan Frances Vere Thesiger, in 1985.1 He died on 25 May 2004 at age 79 at Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk, England.3
     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.2 He fought in the Second World War, in Italy.2 He gained the rank of Captain in the Scots Guards.2 He was admitted to Inner Temple in 1950 entitled to practise as a barrister.2 He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG, in 1957 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)2 He held the office of Member of the West Suffolk County Council in 1968.2 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Suffolk between 1971 and 1986.2 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Suffolk between 1983 and 2004.2 He lived at Felsham, Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk, EnglandG.4
