Major Lachlan Forbes was born on 16 September 1830 at Welwyn, Hertfordshire, England.1 He is the son of John Forbes and Elizabeth Mary (?)1 He married Julia Wyndham, daughter of Captain Alexander Wadham Wyndham and Emma Trevelyan, in 1866 at Shaftesbury, Dorset, England.1 He died on 31 October 1895 at age 65 at Salisbury, Wiltshire, England.1 He was buried on 4 November 1895 at Salisbury, Wiltshire, England.1
     He gained the rank of Major in the 2nd Bengal Grenadier.2 He gained the rank of Brevet Major in the 31st Huntingdonshire Regiment.1 He was Honourable East India Company Service.2 He lived at Culverhayes, Shillingstone, Dorset, EnglandG.2
