Matthew Henry Waley-Cohen was born on 14 August 1916.² He was the son of Sir Robert Waley Cohen and Alice Violet Beddington.¹ He married, firstly, Barbara Mabel Wenham, daughter of George H. Wenham, on 1 June 1943.² He and Barbara Mabel Wenham were divorced in 1950.² He married, secondly, Gwynedd Mary Davis-Scourfield on 9 October 1950.² He died in April 1989 at age 72.¹
     He was given the name of Matthew Henry Waley Cohen at birth.¹ He was educated at Clifton College, Clifton, Bristol, England.² He was with Shell Petroleum between 1936 and 1954.² He was awarded the Territorial Decoration (T.D.) in 1937.² He fought in the Second World War, where he was wounded and was mentioned in dispatches.² On 8 March 1950 his name was legally changed to Matthew Henry Waley-Cohen by Deed Poll.¹ He was Member of Hornsey Borough Council between 1953 and 1962.² He held the office of member of the Somerset County Council in 1959.² He held the office of High Sheriff of Somerset in 1975.²

Sir Philip Magnus-Allcroft, 2nd Bt. was born on 8 February 1906.¹ He was the son of Laurie Magnus and Dora Marian Spielmann.¹ He married Jewell Allcroft, daughter of Herbert John Allcroft, on 14 July 1943.² He died on 21 December 1988 at age 82, without issue.²
     He was given the name of Philip Magnus at birth.¹ He was educated at Westminster School, Westminster, London, England.² He was with the Civil Service between 1928 and 1932.² He graduated from Wadham College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, in 1929 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)² He graduated from Wadham College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)² He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Magnus, of Tangley Hill, Wonersh, co. Surrey [U.K., 1917] on 29 August 1933.² He fought in the Second World War.² He wrote the book Life of Edmund Burke, published 1939.² He gained the rank of Major in the Royal Artillery and Intelligence Corps.² He was with the Civil Service between 1945 and 1951.² In 1951 his name was legally changed to Philip Magnus-Allcroft.¹ He held the office of Member of the Shropshire County Council in 1952.² He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Shropshire in 1953.² He wrote the book Gladstone—A Biography, published 1954.² He wrote the book Kitchener—Portrait of An Imperialist, published 1958.² He wrote the book King Edward the Seventh, published 1964.² He was Trusteee of the National Portrait Gallery.² He was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1971.² He was appointed Fellow, Royal Society of Literature (F.R.S.L.)² He was appointed Fellow, Royal Historical Society of Literature (F.R.Hist.S.)²

     He was educated at Westminster School, Westminster, London, England.¹ He graduated from Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)¹ He was admitted to Lincoln's Inn in 1933 entitled to practise as a barrister.¹ He fought in the Second World War.¹ He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Rifle Brigade.¹ He was awarded the Territorial Decoration (T.D.)¹ He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) in 1949.¹ He was appointed Queen's Counsel (Q.C.) in 1957.¹ He held the office of Bencher of Lincoln's Inn in 1963.¹ He was National Insurance Commissioner in 1964.¹
