Bertha Twining was born on 2 February 1857 at The Strand, Westminster, London, England.1 She was the daughter of Samuel Harvey Twining and Rosa Herring.1 She married Horace Hayes Montgomery Lawrence, son of General Richard Charles Lawrence and Ellen Youngson, in 1890.1 She died on 2 February 1937 at age 80 at Garmoe House, Camelford, Lanteglos, Cornwall, England.1,2 She was buried on 5 February 1937 at St. Julitta Lanteglos Churchyard, Lanteglos, Cornwall, England.1
From 1890, her married name became Lawrence.1
