James Ian Morrison, 2nd Baron Margadale was born on 17 July 1930.1 He was the son of Major John Granville Morrison, 1st Baron Margadale and Hon. Margaret Esther Lucie Smith.1 He married Clare Barclay, daughter of Anthony Lister Barclay and Elizabeth Bryson, on 14 October 1952.1 He died on 6 April 2003 at age 72.2
He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.1 He gained the rank of 2nd Lieutenant between 1949 and 1950 in the Life Guards.1 He was educated at Royal Agricultural College, Cirencester, Gloucestershire, England.1 He was admitted to the Royal Company of Archers in 1960.1 He gained the rank of Major between 1960 and 1968 in the Royal Wiltshire Yeomanry (TA.)1 He was awarded the Territorial Decoration (T.D.) in 1963.1 He held the office of High Sheriff of Wiltshire in 1971.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Wiltshire in 1977.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Baron Margadale, of Isley, co. Argyll [U.K., 1965] on 25 May 1996.3 He lived at Fonthill House, Wiltshire, EnglandG.2

Major John Granville Morrison, 1st Baron Margadale was born on 16 December 1906.1 He was the son of Hugh Morrison and Lady Sophia Castelia Mary Leveson-Gower.1 He married Hon. Margaret Esther Lucie Smith, daughter of William Frederick Danvers Smith, 2nd Viscount Hambleden and Lady Esther Georgiana Caroline Gore, on 16 October 1928.2 He died on 26 May 1996 at age 89.1
