FM-7 - TV Tropes
- ️Wed Dec 27 2023
The FM-7 (short for Fujitsu Micro 7) is a home computer produced by Fujitsu first released in 1982. It's a stripped down version of their FM-8 computer, which is why it was referred to as FM-8 Jr. during development. It was considered part of the major trinity of Japanese computers alongside the PC-88 and Sharp X1.
While the FM-7 could not defeat the PC-88, it still managed to sell about 220,000 units and became popular with hobbyists. It received a revision called FM-NEW7 in 1984 with M68B09 integrated memory and an LSI chip. It was discontinued and succeeded by FM-77 models starting from 1984, which featured backwards compatibility with FM-7, which were later succeeded in 1989 by FM Towns.
The games released on the system mostly consist of Arcade Game ports and Adventure Games as well as Visual Novels.
