Hero of Robots is an arcade Card Battle Game developed by International Games System in 2011. It uses a cabinet arcade machine that scans cards for use in the game, much like Animal Kaiser.
The game is turn-based, with two robot characters battling each other for five turns each.
The Chinese version's currently on its 6th version, while the English version on its 4th version
.
Tropes present in this game:
- Anime Theme Song: Starts at 3rd Version, the intro has a song called "Hero Spirits".
- Armor-Piercing Attack: A Skill Card called All-Out Attack, has this ability. Unfortunately the varied card, Delay Blast, is a
Game-Breaker, & the nerfed version is released at Version 5.
- A Winner Is You: There's no ending for each pilot, including versus mode.
- Back from the Defeat: Starts at 3rd version, Aiya Tech to some of robots have this ability, if this was almost winning player after the last final attack before opponent's final attack (even worse if winning player's HP is less than 2500), then it's a Last Ditch Move.
- Beehive Barrier: Any robots' success defends the attack.
- Button Mashing: When Go All Out events occurred.
- Cap: Maximum stats other than HP is 30000, even you can transform or combine or not.
- Combining Mecha: Robot cards that have the keyword "Merge" do this. They get better stats once activated.
- Note: The active robot is shown to merge with another robot. However, this other robot is not under control by the player.
- Critical Status Buff: A Skill Card called Reverse Force, it has the said so ability.
- Expy / Shout-Out: Some of the robot designs.
- Fantasy Counterpart Culture: Aiya National Union is Asia, Orphe League is Europe, and the United States of Lamelia is... fairly obvious.
- Guest Fighter: Armor Hero XT at Version 6.
- Hard Mode Perks: In Version 4, they basically take a lesson from Mushiking: The King of Beetles: no full recover HP after winning battle, & add supply option after each winning battle in new Path of Heroes Challenge. Ohh and don't expect any CPU's robots that lower than Silver Rank, however if you managed survive long enough, you might challenge True Final Boss without Random Encounters.
- Healing Factor: Some of the Skill Cards.
- Life Drain: Skill Card's Energy Absorption.
- Luck-Based Mission: even you have the right cards doesn't mean you always win, same apply to CPU, though.
- Never Say "Die": Inverted. The villians may say die, & Death Armor, but the battle is only KO the opponent.
- Never Trust an Intro: If you're new to 3rd Version intro before you play previous versions, there's no way that Armored Lion transformed back into Lion King.
- Non-Lethal K.O.: Despite Never Say "Die", the battle doesn't involve killing them.
- No Campaign for the Wicked: Averted: 5th Version has ton of villain cards to play, previous versions are Sirius & final bosses.
- Palette Swap: right side's playable robot cards will have different palette regardless of using left side's playable cards. Averted for Black Knight, Sky Lord, & even playable final bosses.
- Random Encounters: Including Final Boss, though you don't encounter True Final Boss in every gameplay in HARD Challenge.
- Super Move Portrait Attack: The result of Super Melee Move or Super Shooting Move's success.
- The Computer Is a Cheating Bastard: When there's only 2 CPU opponents in a game, be prepare for Silver rarity Final Boss Mode in HARD Challenge.
- There Is No Defeat Like Overbeat
- Transforming Mecha: Robot cards that have the keyword "Transform" do this. They get better stats once activated.
- Following transformation tropes in this game including Transformation Sequence, Emergency Transformation & Transformation Is a Free Action.
