Cross Between Time is a YouTube series made by ØREØ using Gacha Life. It is a story about a young man from the 1800s named Edward who creates a Time Machine to travel back in time and save his Mother, but accidentally travels to the far future year of 2218. Separated from his time machine, and with a bounty on his head, his only allies on his mission are the Unit F8, the small band of heroes who originally found him.
The first episode, "Time Travel" was uploaded on February 2nd, 2020, and the final episode before it was Cut Short, "Contest Batch Event", was uploaded on January 30th, 2022. As of January 2025, the series is on indefinite hiatus.
- Affectionate Nickname: Phyzz calls Edward "Eddie".
- Arranged Marriage: Edward is in an arranged marriage with his Wicked Stepmother’s cousin, Annette. However, he has no interest in marrying and only wants to work on his inventions. Annette advises him to follow his heart, even if it means he won’t reciprocate her feelings.
- Colonized Solar System: In the year 2218, scientific research facilities have been established on Mars.
- Company Cross-References: When Phyzz and Ikitai are going clothes shopping for Edward, one of the outfits Ikitai turns down is the school uniform from DreamOREO’s other work, Witch Academy (Albeit without the pointy hat).
- Destroy the Security Camera: Stefan sneaks into the police station to get info on the Unit F8. Once he’s got what he wants, he not only destroys all the security cameras on the floor, but the computer as well!
- Drowning My Sorrows: When Earl Beckham finds his son Edward missing only a week before his wedding day, he is devastated. He takes to drinking to numb the pain, and he seems to have developed an addiction, spending all his time drunk to avoid worrying about his son. This drives a wedge between him and his brother, who insists that if he really cared, he would be out looking for Edward instead.
- Easing into the Adventure: The first episode, "Time Travel", spends most of its time setting up Edward’s motivation for becoming an inventor, as well as his home life with his neglectful father, dead mom, Wicked Stepmother, and his Arranged Marriage. Edward has only been in the future for a few seconds at most before he passes out from exhaustion and the episode ends.
- Fish out of Temporal Water: Edward, an inventor from Victorian England, finds himself in the year 2218 due to a malfunction in his newly-invented Time Machine. With the help of the Unit F8, he must adjust to the technology and culture of the far future in order to retrieve his Time Machine. He is confident in his ability to learn and adjust as long as his newfound friends are willing to teach him, and he is ultimately able to blend in quite well.
- Headache of Doom: Starting when the unit F8 leave for Mars, Edward begins experiencing strange headaches and passing out at random intervals. The cause is yet to be revealed, but curiously, his fellow time travel researcher Nye L. Annenberg starts getting migraines at around the same time.
- Meanwhile, in the Future…: While the story primarily follows Edward’s adventure trying to retrieve his Time Machine from Sector Z in year 2218, it occasionally cuts back to the past to show how his family are reacting to his disappearance a week before his wedding day.
- Nepotism: In the early days of the Unit F8, back when they were still working under the Wasps Program, Xion used to be The Leader simply because his dad was the program’s CEO. He did not enjoy this, preferring to follow his dream of becoming an air racer, so when former weakest link Declara’s performance saw a drastic increase, he requested that she take his place.
- Obligatory Earpiece Touch: When Stefan uses an earpiece to alert a Silver Wasps agent that he found the information he was looking for on the unit F8, he touches his ear because otherwise it would be impossible to tell he was wearing one at all due to his hairstyle.
- Parental Neglect: Edward’s Father was always away on business since his Mother died, causing the two of them to have a strained and distant relationship. When he returns from business with a new fiancee, he fails to consider how this might affect Edward’s long-term project of building a time machine, having forgotten all about it since leaving. Because of this, Edward has a much closer relationship with his astronomer Uncle than his Father.
- Pressure Point: A Silver Wasps agent knocks out the policeman questioning her using a pressure point on the back of his neck when he turns away from her.
- Short-Lived Leadership: Back when the Unit F8 were still working under the Wasps Program, Xion was The Leader instead of Declara. He would have preferred to follow his passion of becoming an air racer, but pressure from his father the CEO forced him to stay in his role. This changed when the unit’s weakest link, Declara, suddenly improved her performance, and Xion took the opportunity to request that she take his place. Declara would continue her leadership even after the Unit left the Wasps Program.
- Supporting Leader: Declara is the leader of the Unit F8, a group of freelance heroes and former government agents. The protagonist is Edward, a time traveller from the year 1886, who the Unit F8 assist in retrieving his Time Machine.
- Time Machine: Edward invented a time machine so that he could go back and save his mother from being murdered. The machine operates by using a solar panel to absorb energy from the formation of a black hole.
- Time Travel: Edward, a man from the 1800s, intended to use his time machine to go back to the recent past to save his mother, but instead he found himself in the far future of 2218 and separated from his time machine. He must work together with the Unit F8 to retrieve it from a government facility on Mars.
- Title Drop: At the end of "Phenomenal Future Greet", Phyzz declares that Edward has "crossed between time", and the Unit F8 will be assisting him in retrieving his Time Machine.
- Two Girls to a Team: The Leader Declara and pop singer Melody are the only two women out of the six members of the Unit F8.
- What Year Is This?: When Edward finds himself in the year 2218, he is very disoriented due to the fact that he intended to travel to the recent past. He confusedly asks a just-as-confused bystander what year it is before Fainting from exhaustion.
- Wicked Stepmother: Edward’s Stepmother has no respect for his passion for inventing nor his disinterest in marriage, trying to marry him off to her cousin Annette despite his protests.
