MetaBallStudios
is a YouTube channel made by Álvaro Gracia Montoya from Spain. The videos consist of 3D animations demonstrating the size differences among various real and fictional animals, buildings, vehicles, and other things. There are also videos using the same method to quantify more abstract concepts like speed and time.
Tropes include:
- Big Applesauce: New York City is very commonly used as the setting for the size comparison line-ups, likely because it's easy for viewers to visualize the sizes of its many famous buildings.
- Exact Words: The "DRAGONS Size Comparison" video features many literal dragons — and the SpaceX Dragon spacecraft as a "reference".
- Funny Background Event:
- Heartbeat Soundtrack: In "Time In Perspective", a heartbeat can be heard as the video arrives at the last unique milestone, "Quantum tunneling could generate new inflationary events, resulting in new Big Bangs."
- Humongous Mecha: A video from April 30, 2022 focuses on the size differences between various fictional mecha.
- Kaiju: Giant monsters are popular choices for the videos. "(Movie) MONSTERS Size COMPARISON" most directly deals with them, but lots of other videos focused on different topics nonetheless feature kaiju as well.
