• Acronyms Are Easy as Aybeecee: Discussed in "It's pronounced GIF". Sonic and Shadow get into an argument over the pronunciation of "GIF" (Sonic pronounces the G as in "git", Shadow pronounces it as in "gin") and bring up other acronyms to support their viewpoints. A few examples in, Sonic double-takes upon learning that "laser" is an acronym.
• Adaptational Modesty: Discussed in "The Truth about Rouge", where Shadow claims to be responsible for Rouge's redesign in Sonic Prime:

  Shadow: I made them draw Rouge with fewer sexual features so that you wouldn't be horny! Reducing your blood flow to make you a millisecond slower. Slow enough for me to steal the Chaos Emerald.

  Police: Police! You're going to horny jail! Prepare to be bonked!
  Sonic: Wait, the point is I'm not horny.

• All Girls Want Bad Boys: "I heard you like bad boys":

  Amy: Yeah, why?

• Archnemesis Dad: In "I just think Radical Highway is so cool", Shadow at first denies Black Doom's claim that the alien is his father, though at the end he seems to slip by calling him "dad".
• Art Shift: During "Team Chaotix Becomes Youtubers" there's a brief moment where the video goes from Sonic X footage to screenshots with text on them and to plush dolls when Vector discusses meme formats.

• Battle Rapping: "Maria Robotnik vs Gun. Epic Rap Battles Of History". Just guess what immediately happens.
• Black Comedy: Their videos are chock full of it. Examples include Maria being shot dead in a rap battle and Slippy being (literally) roasted on Solar.
  • There is also this unique way of describing Shadow the Hedgehog's morality mechanic. On the Hero path, Shadow and Sonic race for a Chaos Emerald. On the Dark path, Black Doom orders Shadow to destroy the South Tower of the World Trade Center.
• Best Level Ever: In-Universe, the aptly titled "I just think Radical Highway is so cool" has Black Doom gushing about how awesome Radical Highway is.
• Bond One-Liner: Falco in "Star Fox goes to the sun and dies" has this to say to Fox after he gets burned alive:

  Falco: Serves you right, HOT HEAD!

• Brains and Brawn: A verbal example.
• Breaking the Fourth Wall: In the video about the Chaotix becoming YouTubers, Charmy convinces Vector and Espio to do it by playing an earlier Jehtt video, then when coming up with ideas he plays the beginning of the video that they are in.

  Vector: Is this the conversation we just had?
  Charmy: Yeah, but now it's a meme!
  Espio: But what happens if this catches up to the present?
  Charmy: It won't. There's not enough time left in the video.
  [beat]
  Espio: I don't think anyone is going to like this.
  Vector: Well, there's only one way to find out. [turns toward the camera] Let us know what you think in the comments down below!

• Brick Joke:
• Card-Carrying Villain: Dr. Eggman, as in canon. In "Eggman Takes Over the US Healthcare System", he describes himself as "an evil dictator" and "'literally a cartoon villain".
• Context-Sensitive Button: Parodied in "Press B Button to do everything". Omochao tries to explain the controls for Sonic Adventure 2 but gets increasingly exasperated as he notices the B button alone is used to Somersault, Spin Dash, Light Dash, Bounce, perform special attacks in two-player versus mode, and do even more things using the Action Window. He loses his patience on finding out the X button does exactly the same thing as the B button.

  Omachao: Oh my God, wow! Amazing tutorial! pReSs B bUtToN!

• Deconstructive Parody: "His jaw broke" shows that the big Mouth Flaps of Sonic Adventure characters are dangerous for their jaws, especially when Deranged Animation is at play.

  Eggman: Only fools talk with their mouths. That's why Chaos is the perfect ally — he doesn't have one!

• Disability as an Excuse for Jerkassery: In "I have mental illness":

  Infinite: It would be problematic for you to criticize me.
  Sonic: You killed a bunch of people.
  Infinite: I am literally neurodivergent and a minor.
  Sonic: Okay. Me too. I didn't kill a bunch of people though.

• Disappointed by the Motive: Sonic is unimpressed that Infinite became a mass murderer because he was bullied by Shadow.
• Distinction Without a Difference: In "I thought you were pro-choice". Shadow didn't murder the GUN agent; he performed a 97th trimester abortion.
• Embarrassing First Name: Pigma:

  Pigma: How dare you! I am Pigma Dengar, and I—
  Falco: PIGMA BALLS! Hahahaha!
  Fox: OHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
  Slippy: OHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

• Entendre Failure: In "Babe, I'm wet", Sonic takes Amy saying she's wet too literally.

  Sonic: You want a paper towel?
  Amy: No, I want more than that.
  Sonic: You want... two paper towels?
  Amy: No, I want something big and round!
  Sonic: Damn bitch, you want the whole roll?!

• Even Evil Has Standards:
  • Silver happens to be so gullible that Mephiles is actually taken aback by it.
  • In "Eggman Takes Over the US Healthcare System", Shadow keeps informing him that the United States has him beaten to the punch on what he plans to do to said system. He expresses revulsion and disbelief throughout, and downright cuts Shadow off when he starts to tell him about the racism in the system.

    Eggman: I'm not sure if I should be proud of my country or disgusted by it.
    Shadow: Maybe both.

  • Played for Laughs in "That's naughty, Sonic", where Eggman uses a machine on Sonic to reveal the latter's fetishes; when Sonic turns into his werehog form as a result, Eggman is not particularly pleased and almost immediately has him Thrown Out the Airlock.

    Eggman: No! You're... A furry?!
    Sonic: Wasn't it obvious?
    Eggman: Why would it...? Actually, in hindsight, yes.

• Everyone Has Standards: Shadow may be proud of being inflammatory on Twitter, but he has some limits. For example, in "What is Ligma", he worries his joke may actually be homophobic.
• Everything Is Racist: In "They're not like us", Charmy calls Vector racist for distinguishing between the sapient animals of their world and the non-sapient ones.
• Eviler than Thou: In "Eggman Takes Over the US Healthcare System", Eggman tries to turn the US healthcare system evil, but gives up when he realizes that he can't come up with any way to make it more evil than it already was.
• Fix Fic: Played for Laughs with "How Sonic X Should Have Ended":

  Chris: Sonic! Don't leave, you're my Only Friend. My classmates bully me because they think I'm a furry, and my parents only let me eat rocks! You're the only good thing I have left! Please!
  Sonic: Chris. (lets go of Chris's hand before giving him a thumbs up) Cope!

• Freudian Excuse Is No Excuse: Played for Laughs — when Infinite tries to justify his massacre in "I have mental illness" with the fact that he's a neurodivergent minor who was bullied by Shadow, Sonic rebukes it by claiming that plenty of bullied neurodivergent people don't go on murderous rampages.

  Sonic: Most people who get bullied don't end up killing people!
  Infinite: Some of them do.
  Sonic: Shadow bullies me every day and I'm fine!
  Silver: You are?
  Sonic: Okay, maybe I'm not fine, but I don't kill people for fun!

• Fun with Subtitles: In "You changed the subtitles?!", Shadow uses a Chaos Emerald to change what the subtitles say Sonic is saying, much to the latter's annoyance.

  Sonic's dialogue according to the subtitles: You're totally radical. "Radical" is the best way to describe Shadow and is not at all outdated slang.
  Sonic's actual dialogue: Really, dude? "Radical"? What year is it?

• Funny Background Event: "Sonic Launches his Vtubing Career" has the chat's comments and the atrocious and/or lazy aliases of the watchers. Outside of "xXUltimatelifeformXx", a troll who made a donation to get his crappy SonicXMario fanart seen so Sonic's stream would be ruined (Shadow) and the stream's moderator "MilesPr0w3r" (Tails), you have "PikoPikoRose" who desperately tries to get Sonic's attention (Amy), "420BlazeCat" who's the only one who wants to chill on a stream and who leaves after she sees the drawing (Blaze), "AngelIslandKnux" who gets his messages constanly deleted by moderation (Knuckles), and "EggFucker2" (the 2 also implies he got banned before), a hater who's the only one amused by Shadow's trolling (Eggman).
• Furry Confusion: "They are not like us" has Team Chaotix argue about the differences between anthropomorphic animals like themselves, and regular animals like the frogs of the jungle they're in.
• Gratuitous Spanish: Shadow bids Sonic goodbye with "Adios, amigo" in "I can't believe he said this" after stealing the latter's passport in order to go to Mexico.
• Halfway Plot Switch: "Shadow, you have to ban the spambot" begins with Shadow fighting a spambot (represented by Emerl) before it switches to Shadow realizing they're making him revive his backstory in an attempt to give him back his lost nuance.
• Here We Go Again!: After Eggman's plan to turn the U.S. health care system evil fails miserably as it's already far more evil than he is, he decides to try again with an easier target:

  Eggman: I'm just going to take over something pure and free of corruption. Like, um... The U.S. educational system!
  Shadow: Oh boy.

• Heroic BSoD:
  • "No, you're cringe" begins with Black Doom sending Shadow into one by calling him "cringe"; Professor Gerald's pre-recorded message snaps Shadow out of it by showing him a meme with Black Doom as the Soyjak and him as the Chad.
  • Vector at the end of "They're not like us", after having to deal with Espio pondering whether it's appropriate to judge a creature's capabilities by its lack of sapience and Charmy continually insisting that Vector is racist for believing that it is, then finally managing to shut down the discussion until they come across "a non-sapient crocodile or something", which they immediately do.

    Vector: Maybe God has forsaken us...

• Horrible Judge of Character: 90% of the joke in You must kill Sonic.

  Mephiles: Now I know it may be difficult to believe with such little evidence, but if you'll allow-
  Silver: You're right! I have to kill him!
  Mephiles: ...wait, what?
  Silver: Just tell me what to do.
  Mephiles: That's all it took? A Photoshop of Sonic on fire?
  Silver: What's Photoshop?
  Mephiles: Uh, anyway, so... you trust me?
  Silver: With my life.
  Mephiles: Even though I'm acting, like, suuuper evil.
  Silver: Well, you did have really convincing evidence.

• Informed Species: In "The Wild Hedgehog", the documentary narrator points out that not only does Sonic not even look remotely like a hedgehog, but he doesn't look like any existing animal. When he hears that Sonic can talk, he sounds outright horrified.

  Sonic: (yawns) What a nice day!
  Documentary Narrator: Urgh! Definitely not an animal! Get this away!

• Innocently Insensitive: In "You're kind of a jerk, Sonic", Tom tells Sonic that he has a bad habit of doing this, and he brings up Shadow, Merlina, and Shahra as examples.
• Instantly Proven Wrong: While arguing over the pronunciation of the word ".gif" in "It's pronounced GIF", Sonic demands that Shadow name one word that starts with the letter "G" that sounds like the letter "J". Shadow immediately answers with "gentrification".

  Sonic: Shoot! Shoulda thought of that! I was just in San Francisco!

• Insult Backfire: Jet pulls one while racing Sonic in "I haven't lost my virginity".

  Sonic: You may touch the finish line, but you've never touched a woman!
  Jet: You're right, I haven't lost my virginity.
  Sonic: Huh?
  Jet: Because I never lose! See you later, sex-haver! Ha ha ha ha ha!

• Interactive Narrator: Sonic notices the documentary narrator talking about him in "The Wild Hedgehog". When the narrator switches to talking about echidnas, Knuckles attacks him.

  Knuckles: YOU BETTER NOT TELL THEM ABOUT MY PENIS!

• Intimidating Revenue Service: Sonic decides not to pay his taxes, against Tails' warnings about the IRS coming after him, because "I'm the fastest thing alive. What are they gonna do? Catch me?" Cut to Sonic in prison.
• Jumping Off the Slippery Slope: In "Team Rocket's Podcast Gets Cancelled" Meowth, in the span of one minute, going from claiming that Maxie might've been right about Hoenn having too much water to claiming that all the water in Hoenn should be gone even if it means that everybody there dies.
• "Just Joking" Justification: "Eggman's AI Generated Daughter" has Eggman wanting Sage to tell him how to destroy the world. But, since Sage uses ChatGPT, she won't answer. So, Eggman wants Sage to tell him how to destroy the world… as a joke. Sage says that the fastest way to destruction is nuclear warfare. She then gives Eggman the United States's nuclear launch codes. The codes didn't work, as Sage had simply told a joke.
• Lame Pun Reaction: Falco has one, upon realizing that Fox took them all to the sun just for a pun.
• List of Transgressions: After Sonic's escape from the city, "I did a little trolling" has him in jail, being charged with a lot of crimes: Destruction of property, vandalism, disorderly conduct, extreme negligence, reckless evading, indecent exposure, assault, third-degree manslaughter, parking illegally, second-degree manslaughter, and violating noise ordinances. He only denies parking illegally.
• Magic Countdown: Averted in "Sonic X but the editors remember how time works". A bomb is set to go off in ten seconds, but Shadow and Rouge waste time talking when they should be escaping. After ten seconds pass, the island explodes with Chris, Shadow, and Rouge on it.
• Medium Blending: Sonic vents his anxieties about Sonic Frontiers to Knuckles.

  Sonic: Look, can I be real with you for a sec?
  Knuckles: Sure.
  Sonic: (turns into a realistic hedgehog) Thanks.

• Momma's Boy: Before Shadow's advice in "That's a hot take", one of the three people who liked the tweets of Chaotix was Espio's mom, who he claims to be "a very supportive lady". Vector has to oblige, as their audience is too small to take risks or let Charmy Bee post memes.
• Mood Whiplash: From "Incorrect Sonic Quotes".

  Sonic: I'm tired, Tails. This life I've built for myself, it's all so tiresome. I made so many choices when I was young and foolish. I wish I could go back and do it all again.
  (cut to a wall-eyed Sonic staring at the camera)
  Sonic: SONCIC!

• My Sister Is Off-Limits:
• Negative Continuity: The skits, despite the occasional Call-Back, lack any real continuity. See the multiple deaths of Sonic, for example.
• "Not Making This Up" Disclaimer: "Actual Twitter thread between Sonic and KFC" is indeed based on an actual Twitter thread between Sonic and KFC.
• Not That Kind of Doctor: Eggman reveals in "Eggman takes over the United States' healthcare system" that, contrary to what most people would guess, his doctorate is in Women's Studies. Hey, just because he aspires to be a tyrannical dictator doesn't mean that he can't be a feminist.
• Obfuscating Stupidity: In "What is ligma", Omega pretends to lack humor comprehension, in order to lure Shadow into a "DEEZ NUTS" joke.
• Oblivious to Love: Sonic rarely recognizes when Amy is flirting with him. Though, he does flirt with Amy once, in "I heard you like bad boys".
• Other Me Annoys Me: The whole gag of "One Real Sonic" has Jason Sonic and Jehtt Sonic be this to each other. Lisa Amy and Jehtt/Izziibel Amy manage to subvert this and proudly compliment each other. At least, until the latter Amy claims her Sonic to be the cutest of the two, to which both take back their compliments of each other. Amusingly, Jehtt Shadow and Jason Shadow get along pretty well.
• Outlaw Couple: From Amy's point of view anyway, after she breaks Sonic out of prison.

  Amy: So, does this make us partners in crime?
  Sonic: Don't push it.
  Amy: Oh my gosh. We can be like Harley Quinn and the Joker!

• Overly Long Gag: "Will you date me but Shadow says way more of the bible", created as a charity incentive, has Sonic become curious about how long Shadow can go on reciting The Bible in Japanese. Shadow makes it through the entirety of Genesis 1 before he finally has to take a breath.
• Paper-Thin Disguise: "Hey guys, I found Sonic". In which Knuckles brings in someone who only vaguely looks like Sonic and sounds nothing like him. Then, after the impostor is kicked out, Knuckes does the exact same thing with an equally believable Shadow.
• Parental Sexuality Squick: When Bowser Jr. learns why Bowser keeps sending him to antagonize Mario:

  Bowser Jr.: All while you and Peach stayed in the hot tub. Alone. All day. Wait, this isn't, like, a sex thing, is it?
  (beat)
  Bowser Jr.: Oh my God.
  Bowser: If you didn't want to know, you shouldn't have asked!
  Bowser Jr.: I will never recover from this.
  Bowser: Your dad needs love too, Junior!

• Politically Correct Villain: Apparently, Eggman's PhD is in Women's Studies. He also becomes disgusted when Shadow starts to bring up racial discrimination in the medical system.

  Eggman: Being an evil dictator doesn’t exclude me from being a feminist, Shadow!

• Politically Incorrect Villain: Played for Laughs with how Nazo thinks Sonic and Shadow's fusion Shadic in "Mine is bigger" seems pretty gay.
• Power Makeover: Parodied in "My eyes are blue now", when Sage's calculations determine that Super Sonic gaining blue eyes would make him strong enough to defeat THE END. He slams into it to no effect.
• Pre-Asskicking One-Liner: Shadow delivers several as he fights the spambot in "Shadow, you have to ban the spambot":

  Spambot: First!
  Shadow: You'll be last after I kick your ass!
  Spambot: Let's appreciate the effort he puts into his content :)
  Shadow: How about you appreciate my first in your face?

• Pronoun Trouble: A few Shadow-related videos deal with this trope as he tends to be a parody of far-right conservatives:
  • In "I don't have pronouns", Shadow claims he has no pronouns and demands to be called by his name. When Sonic uses "he", he gets the Pronoun Police on him.
  • In "What are you pronouns?", Shadow demands to know Omega's pronouns, only to give his computer specs. When Shadow and Rouge learn he has a stronger processor, Shadow demands his specs, only for Omega to claim he's they/them.
• Race Fetish: As several videos show, Shadow really likes latinas.
• Reality Has No Subtitles: Hilariously averted in some videos:
  • "You changed the subtitles?" has Sonic reacting directly at the text which replaces his actual dialogue.
  • This aversion is also implied in "It's pronounced GIF", as it would be hard for anyone to learn that "laser" is an acronym when it's pronounced "lah-zeer".
• Rejected Apology: Shadow rejects Silver's apology in "Never apologize" because he sees apologies as a sign of weakness; a signal to your enemy that you are unwilling to stand up for yourself or what you believe in.
• Related in the Adaptation: Tikal, who has no known relationship to Knuckles in canon, is now his sister. For two videos, at least.
• Rule of Cool:
  • Discussed in "Richter Belmont is a terrible actor"; Dracula points out that he set up his castle and throne room the way he did not because it's practical in any way as a fortress, but "because it's fucking awesome".

    Dracula: Nobody's going to remember "Dracula's Underground Belmont Shelter", but they're sure as Hell going to remember Dracula's Fucking Castle! And a place like this needs performances! THEATRICS, Richter! And you're not even trying!

  • Also discussed by Black Doom in "I just think Radical Highway is so cool" as being the reason why he brought back Radical Highway as the setting for his Doom Zones, with him gushing all about how Shadow goes "fwshhhh" down the bridge's suspension cables and "bwong bwong bwong" through the building with the chain of springs inside it.

    Shadow: (incredulously) What are you, twelve?

• Running Gag:
  • The videos where Knuckles calls Sonic out for flirting with his sister (Tikal) always have these lines of dialogue:

  Knuckles: Bro, are you flirting with my sister? / Are you serious?!

  Sonic: Yes I am!
  Knuckles: Do you wanna die?!
  Sonic: Yes I do!

  • In "One Real Sonic", both Sonics claim they're not on a date, but just here for the churros. After they start fighting and Jehtt Shadow wonders why they fight, Jason Shadow tells him to ignore them... to get some churros.
• Saying Sound Effects Out Loud: Black Doom's less than eloquent explanation as for why likes Radical Highway so much in "I just think Radical Highway is so cool":

  Black Doom: I mean, you grind down the suspensions cables like fwshhhhh and then fighter jets come in and drop bombs like boom boom boom but you dodge them, and then you go into that building with the springs and it's like bwong bwong bwong! Oh my god, it's so cool!
  Shadow: What are you, twelve?

• Satellite Character: Tikal in "Bro, are you flirting with my sister?", as despite being the catalyst of the skit, she has no lines and only seems to be around to give Knuckles a reason to be mad at Sonic.
• Self-Serving Memory: In "Shadow, I beg of you, kill everyone", Shadow remembers Maria explicitly asking him to kill humanity. Later subverted when he remembers that what she truly said was "give them a chance to be happy".

  Shadow: In hindsight, it was out of character for her to ask me to do genocide.
  Amy: Wow, who would have guessed.

• Sequel Episode: "We're back at Eggman's Crypto mine" is one to "This is Eggman's Crypto mine", involving Team Sonic returning to the eponymous location, which is no longer used for creating NFTs but as a data center for generative AI.
• Shoddy Knockoff Product: Half of "Your Jordans are fake" consists of Sage claiming Knuckles' shoes are this.
• Shout-Out:
  • "Oh, you're approaching me?" is an almost exact recreation of a similar scene from Jo Jos Bizarre Adventure Stardust Crusaders with Sonic as Jotaro Kujo and Shadow as DIO.
  • Sonic notices a vent while flying with Tails and Knuckles.

    Sonic: Hey guys, check out that vent! Have you ever heard of Among Us? If we vent, we can get to where we're going right away. But be careful, it'll make us pretty sus!

    Knuckles: Sonic, what the fuck are you talking about— (video ends)

  • The Among Us references continue in "Does this remind you of something?", much to Eggman's anger.

  • "The Truth Behind Rouge" is a nearly word-for-word recreation of KaiserNeko's "The Truth About Lola" video (based on this tweet and voiced by ViewtifulVal), and in general the "Zoomposting" Memetic Mutation starring the Reverse-Flash.
  • This YouTube short takes a cover from the Sonic the Hedgehog (IDW) comics parodying the "Pepe Silvia" scene from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia and goes even further with it, complete with Yello's "Oh Yeah" as the background music.

    Silver: Can we talk about the mail? Please, Sonic? I've been dying to talk about the mail with you all day, OK? "Ivo Robotnik." His name keeps coming up over and over and over again, every day Ivo's mail's gettin' sent back to me! Ivo Robotnik, Ivo Robotnik, I look in the mail, this whole BOX is Ivo Robotnik! So I say to myself, "I gotta find this guy! I gotta go up to his office and gotta put his mail in the guy's goddamn hands, otherwise, he's never gonna get it, it's gonna keep comin' back down here!" So I go up to Ivo's office and what do I find out, Sonic? What do I find out? There is no Ivo Robotnik, the man does not exist, okay? So I decide, "Aw shit, buddy, I gotta dig a little deeper. There's no Ivo Robotnik? You gotta be kidding me, I got BOXES full'a Ivo!" All right, so I start marchin' my way down to Miles in HR and I knock on his door and I say, "Miles! MILES! I gotta talk to you about Ivo!" And when I open the door, what do I find? There's not a single goddamn desk in that office! There is… no… Miles in HR! Sonic, half the employees in this building are made up! This office is a goddamn ghost town!

  • The wall of extra options for "Press B Button to do everything" has one of the functions of the B button be "Blow", in reference to Markiplier's "Press B to blow" gag.
  • "Incorrect Sonic Quotes 2" ends with Sonic singing "It's Going Down Now", one of the battle themes of Persona 3 Reload.
• Sick Episode: Sonic is sick as hell with the Coronavirus when he's recruited by Shahra to save the Arabian Nights. He then infects Erazor Djinn with COVID after defeating him.

  Erazor: (while coughing loudly) I can't believe you came here knowing you had COVID! You got me so sick! How could you do this to me?! WHHHHHY?!

• Special Guest: "One Real Sonic" guest stars Jason Griffith and Lisa Ortiz, reprising their roles as Sonic (and Shadow) and Amy respectively. Fittingly, the video has them play opposite of Jehtt and Izziibel's Sonic and Amy, as the two pairs argue over which of the two are the "real" Sonic and Amy.
• Suddenly Bilingual: Shadow is revealed to be fluent in Japanese the instant he can use it to one-up Sonic.
• The Tape Knew You Would Say That: Parodied in "No, you're cringe", where Gerald's pre-recorded message correctly predicts Black Doom's question, only to then state that he can't answer any questions since it's a pre-recorded message. He then goes on to correctly predict everything else Black Doom says, and even makes a Soyjak meme despite the message having been recorded decades before internet memes were even a concept, much less that particular one.
• A Taste of Their Own Medicine: The ending of "What is Ligma":

  Omega: (dazed) Comprehension error. To install humor driver, insert the correct CDs.
  Shadow: What CDs—
  Omega: SEE DEEZ NUUUUTS!
  Shadow: Oh my God…
  Omega: LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!

• Tempting Fate:
  • Sonic does so in "Sonic Evades his Taxes", after deciding not to pay his taxes:

    Tails: If you don't pay your taxes, the IRS will come after you!
    Sonic: Yeah, and I'm the fastest thing alive. What are they gonna do? Catch me?
    [Gilligan Cut to Sonic in jail]
    Sonic: Damn, they caught me.

  • In "They are not like us", tired of the argument of why frogs can't talk on the basis that they aren't sapient (and Charmy constantly calling him racist), Vector shuts the discussion down "until they see a non-sapient crocodile". Guess what happens not even two seconds after he said that.
• This Cannot Be!: This is Black Doom's reaction in "No, you're cringe" when Professor Gerald's pre-recorded message reveals a meme depicting Black Doom as the soyjak and Shadow as the chad, on the account that memes didn't exist 50 years ago.
• Too Dumb to Live: Fox takes the team to the sun just so he can make puns. Not only does this result in Slippy's death, but he dies too.
• Tough Act to Follow: Invoked in "Can I be real with you?" Sonic is worried that due to the success of Sonic Frontiers, he feels like he has expectations to live up to, especially since it was the first time in a while that most people liked a new game.
• Troll: Shadow in "That's a hot take" posts a tweet about how Sonic Adventure 2 wasn't that good of a game on the Chaotix's Twitter account to give them more exposure. Even if it's not exactly positive exposure, Shadow claims that they'll get attention from "weirdos who will worship [them] for being a contrarian".

  Shadow: Being popular on Twitter isn't about charm or wit. It's about being as inflammatory as possible.

• Verbal Backspace:

  Vector: I don't know, Charmy. After the whole "computer room" thing, I don't really want to do memes.
  Charmy: This has 8 million views.
  Vector: I've always wanted to do memes.

• Villain Has a Point: In "No, you're cringe", after Gerald's pre-recorded message says that the only part of Shadow that's cringe is the blood of Black Doom that runs through him, the alien has this to say:
• Villainous Breakdown: In "No, you're cringe", Black Doom has one of this just from Shadow calling him cringe.
• What Are You in For?: Sonic asks Eggman this, after they both get imprisoned.
• What's a Henway?: Shadow loves to tell the "Ligma" joke: "It's so sad that Steve Jobs died of Ligma" shows that he will say the line at any cost.
• Who's on First?: When Mewtwo introduces himself to Ash and friends, things get confusing really quick.

  Mewtwo: I am Mewtwo.
  Ash: You're Mew too, huh? Well, we're not going to let you get away with this, Mew!
  Mewtwo: Do not insult me with that name, child. I am Mewtwo.
  Ash: Yeah, I heard you. You're Mew too.

• Wicked Cultured: Shadow often has an antagonistic role, and is also very knowledgeable about human customs, Internet culture, and enough miscellaneous topics that he can effortlessly recite the Japanese Bible.
• "Yes"/"No" Answer Interpretation: Silver asks Sonic "What year is this?" when he travelled to the past. Sonic answers that it's 2022.

  Silver: Ah, 2022. The third year of quarantine.
  Sonic: Yeah, and the last, right?
  Silver: …
  Sonic: And the last, right?
  Silver: I should go.

• Your Approval Fills Me with Shame: In "I just think Radical Highway is so cool", Shadow refuses to agree with Black Doom's gushing praise for Radical Highway and outright tells him that he doesn't want his approval.
