Eureka! (2022) (Western Animation)

Eureka! is a Disney Junior series that premiered on June 22, 2022. It's produced by Brown Bag Films, and developed for television by Erica Rothschild. Ruth Righi of the Disney Channel sitcom Sydney to the Max voices the titular Eureka.

Set during the Stone Age in a place called Rocky Falls, the series focuses on cavegirl Eureka building different kinds of gadgets and going on adventures.

Not to be confused with the town in Oregon or a "Eureka!" Moment.

Tropes:

  • All-CGI Cartoon: Like nearly every other Disney Junior series, Eureka! is computer animated.
  • All for Nothing: When Eureka and her classmates have to pick a name for the school's sloth, Barry is afraid of choosing between Eureka's or Pepper's suggestions because it'd hurt the feelings of the friend whose idea he doesn't vote for. Eureka tries to help by inventing a way for the students to vote without anyone knowing who voted for which suggestion. Eureka's and Pepper's suggestions only received one vote each and Clod's suggestion received all other votes but Eureka and Pepper didn't mind that Barry didn't vote for any of her suggestions.
  • Bamboo Technology: Everything Eureka invents is created from things like plants and rocks.
  • Beach Episode:
    • "W-W-W-Wipe Out!" is about Eureka's class going to the beach for a week and Eureka struggling to learn how to surf.
    • In "Zip To It", Eureka invents a zipline so she won't have to choose between a beach day with Barry and Pepper and a day at the ice caverns with other friends and dance instructor Rockanne.
  • Birthday Episode:
    • "Barry's Brrr-thday" is about Barry's birthday and his desire to have a beach party for his birthday in spite of having been born during winter.
    • "Never Ending Snorey" takes place on Eureka's birthday, but she has to deal with a snoring dinosaur blocking the cave entrance to her party.
  • Black and Nerdy: Eureka is smart and creative Black girl.
  • Dark Horse Victory: "Cutaballoo vs. Bebe Sloth" feature Eureka and her classmates trying to pick a name for the school's sloth. Eureka suggests "Cutaballoo" and Pepper suggests "Bebe Sloth". After they sing their reasons for their suggestions, Clod comes up with a suggestion of his own and, when the students vote, his suggestion wins by a landslide.
  • The Dentist Episode: "Dipply Goes to the Dentist" focuses on Dipply needing to overcome her fear of the dentist to get a toothache checked out.
  • Don't You Like It?: In "Absoflutely Fabulous", Eureka attempts to befriend Julia by giving her a tricked out flute. While she appreciates the gesture, she's not too fond of it given how she has own flute.
  • Foreshadowing: In "Dipply Goes to the Dentist", Barry tells Sierra a friend of his needs help and she assumes Pepper tried to break a coconut with her teeth again. It's later revealed that Dipply's toothache came from trying the same thing.
  • Gadgeteer Genius: Eureka is an inventor who's described as ahead of her time.
  • Genki Girl: Pepper is an energetic and thrill seeking girl.
  • Gentle Giant Sauropod: Eureka's friend Pepper's pet is a female diplodocus named Dipply. Unsurprisingly, she's a Gentle Giant given how caring she is towards others.
  • Happily Adopted: Pepper has 2 moms.
  • Hollywood Prehistory: Rocky Falls features dinosaurs living alongside cavepeople and other Cenozoic creatures.
  • I Choose to Stay: KB chooses to stay in Rocky Falls with his friends than leave with his fellow kanga birds.
  • Meaningful Name: Eureka's name is an interjection used to celebrate a discovery or invention, which fits her Gadgeteer Genius personality.
  • Ms. Vice Girl: While Eureka can be rather stubborn and short sighted, she's nonetheless a nice girl that cares for others.
  • One-Word Title: The pairing of "Ferreka/Peppereka" follows this, as do "Shellebration" and "Mightysaura".
  • Pop-Culture Pun Episode Title:
  • Pseudo-Romantic Friendship: Many of Eureka and Pepper's interactions have shades of this. "Peppereka" definitely emphasizes this given how inseparable they are.
  • Queer Colors: Pepper's outfit is orange and pink, the primary colors of the lesbian flag. Given how she has two moms, this makes sense.
  • Stone Punk: The setting of the show is Flintstones-esque society that has dinosaurs living alongside cavepeople and other Cenozoic creatures.
  • Strange Minds Think Alike:
    • In "Tusks, Trouble And All", Barry says how he's not sure about Eureka bringing Murphy to her home, saying in a shocked voice, "The size, the tusks, the wooly, the everything." When she shows him to her parents, her dad Rollo says the exact same thing.
    • In "Snurfy Murphy", one of Eureka's theories about what's wrong with Murphy is that he swallowed gum again. When she goes to her friends for help, Barry also wonders if Murphy swallowed gum again.
    • In "New Rock on the Block", Pepper says the titular rock is as heavy as a lot of rocks. Later, as Bog's father starts breaking the rock, he says it's as hard as a lot of rocks.
  • Superhero Episode: "Mightysaura" has Pepper take on the mantle of the titular character as she helps everyone in Rocky Falls.
  • There Is Another: In "KBs of a Feather", it's revealed there are way more kanga birds than just KB.
  • Title, Please!: As has been the norm for Disney Junior series since 2018, Eureka! has no episode title cards, with Eureka herself merely saying the episode's name at the beginning.
  • Title Theme Tune: Eureka, Eureka, Eureka, Eureka!
  • Two-Timer Date: "Zip To It" is a non-romantic example of this. Eureka tries being in two places at once. Specifically, she tries being at Rockanne's ice skating palace while also being at the beach with Pepper and Barry by using a zipline.
  • Versus Title: Cutaballoo vs. Bebe Sloth
