On the 28th of August, I announced my decision to suspend BC United’s campaign. I’m encouraging all BC United supporters to unite behind John Rustad and the Conservative Party of BC to prevent another four years of disastrous NDP government.
I got back into politics because I wanted to build a bright future for my two daughters and for the next generation of British Columbians.
I’m stepping back for the same reason. I know that the best thing for the future of our province is to defeat the NDP, but we cannot do that when the centre-right vote is split.
I want to assure you that I’ve made the strongest possible case to ensure a place in the Conservative Party for BC United supporters, candidates and MLAs who want one. The Conservative Party of BC has also committed to reviewing its candidates based on an improved vetting process to ensure the strongest team possible going into the election.
I know many of you are disappointed. You’ve taken countless hours from your personal and professional lives because you believe in BC United’s vision, and because you want to help build a better province for all of us.
But I also know that there will be nothing more disappointing than waking up to another NDP government in October – and knowing that by continuing BC United’s campaign, we contributed to that outcome.
While John Rustad and I haven’t always agreed on everything, one thing is clear: our province cannot take another four years of the NDP. But when common sense, free-enterprise British Columbians are united, we get great things done.
That’s why I’m encouraging all free-enterprise voters to come together and join me in helping elect John Rustad and the Conservative Party of BC on October 19th.
I want to offer my deepest gratitude for all your support over the years. You’ve made phone calls, knocked on doors, and offered invaluable advice and ideas. For all that and more, I sincerely thank you.
While this decision wasn’t easy, I know that I’m doing the best thing for B.C.
Sincerely,
