Why Support the website?

Current needs:

BluWiki.org has a number of current needs, which your donations will directly support.

  • RAM Memory upgrade
    • I'm looking to increase Mother's Ram to 1GB from its current 512MB (PC3200 400Mhz, Non-ecc).
      • I've upgraded to 2GB of PC4200 with ECC, which is the fastest (and most expensive!) RAM BluWiki's server can use. --Sam Odio 14:53, 11 August 2007 (EDT)
  • Power Bills
    • Believe it or not, but running the BluWiki server 24/7 adds about $20 / month to my power bills.
  • Internet Access
    • The Bluwiki server needs access to a T1, which costs about $400 / month.
      • Currently I'm using a business DSL account using Slicehost, which costs about $150.00 / month --Sam Odio 12:14, 29 June 2007 (EDT)

  • Volunteer Programmers
    • Urgent: BluWiki desperately needs volunteers with experience in PHP / MySQL & MediaWiki. You can find a list of programming work that I need help with at BluWiki:Site Improvements
  • Volunteer Contributors
    • I also need users (especially experienced Wikipedians) willing to donate their time to BluWiki. Currently, she is in need of much love and attention. Users willing to categorize user pages, fill out the help section, and contribute other miscellaneous structure to the wiki will quickly gain karma.
    • I'm also looking for sysops that have experience with WikiPedia, or a similar wiki.
