- 1958: Greek Police announce that any and all "teddy boys" would be given a clean cut.
- 1962: Alexandra Merdi is executed for murdering her son-in-law. She thus becomes the second woman executed in Greece for a crime, after Stavroula Gouvoussi.
- 1978: George Rallis is the first Greek Foreign Minister to be officially invited to the Soviet Union

- 1938: Ioannis Palamiotis breaks the Greek record for the triple jump with 14.70m and takes 4th place in the European Games of Paris.
- 2012: Greece wins gold at the London Paralympics, in mixed-pairs boccia, after defeating Portugal 4-1 in the final.
