McAleece Park and Recreation Complex is located at 1801 Admiral Sheehy Drive on Chaplain Schmitt Island. View an aerial photo of the park.

  • 3 lighted softball diamonds with 280-foot outfield fences
  • John Petrakis Field is a lighted regulation baseball field
  • Electric scoreboards on all fields
  • Bleacher seating for over 1,700 spectators
  • Concession stand

  • Skate park
  • BMX biking

Skate Park

The McAleece Recreation Area skate park was opened in 2000. The $150,000 City funded project involves a half pipe area of 20’ x 40’ and another 85’ x 105’ area for other ramps. The wood surface over steel frame construction was provided by American Ramp Company. View the skate park layout.

Rules and Regulations

  • Skate park is open 7 a.m. - 10 p.m.
  • Protective gear is recommended (helmets, elbow and knee pads and wrist guards)
  • Know your abilities and skate at your own risk
  • Skateboards, in-line skates, and bicycles allowed
  • No food or beverages allowed inside the skate park
  • Amplified music must be kept to moderate levels
  • Please keep the area clean
  • Allow others time to use the facility
  • Spectators: Please watch from outside the fenced area
