Why we won't get Avengers 4's title for a while yet

  • ️Wed Mar 21 2018

If you're expecting that part of the final build-up to Avengers: Infinity War will be the title reveal of Avengers 4, you will be disappointed.

In the latest issue of Empire magazine, the Russo Brothers have confirmed that the title of Avengers 4 is a spoiler for what happens in Infinity War, echoing something Kevin Feige hinted at last year, meaning we shouldn't exactly be getting a confirmation anytime soon.

Last year, Zoe Saldana appeared to let slip that Avengers 4 would be called Gauntlet, something that was denied by Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn.

However, given that we know the title is a spoiler, there's a strong possibility that Saldana was on the money with the title as it could refer to the fact that Thanos manages to get his hands on all of the Infinity Stones in Infinity War, forming the Infinity Gauntlet.

One thing we definitely know about Avengers 4 is that it's not Infinity War – Part 2 as it was originally planned to be, and Anthony Russo has now teased more of what to expect from the movie.

"It's the Question Mark film. It's more of an epic adventure in the classic sense, with huge emotional stakes," he teased, with Joe Russo again pointing fans in the direction of Captain America: Civil War for clues.

A popular theory for Avengers 4 is that it'll feature some kind of time travel, but earlier this year, Joe first spoke about a "piece of technology" in Civil War giving a hint to Avengers 4, likely to be BARF – the Binary Augmented Retro-Framing technology that showed a younger Tony Stark.

Avengers: Infinity War is released in UK cinemas on April 26 and US cinemas on April 27, with Avengers 4 set for release in UK cinemas on April 26, 2019 and US cinemas on May 3, 2019.
