In-line's popularlity is anything but up in the air.
What it is:
Aggressive in-line skating has evolved in recent years from the days of roller skating. Pioneering skaters mutated their street skating ability before taking their talent into streets, halfpipes and skateparks. In-line skating's popularity has grown rapidly, as it is being recognized not only by athletes as a competitive sport but by participants as a favorite pastime. While the success of aggressive in-line skating has flourished in recent years, it's future will be carried on the shoulders of up-and-coming athletes from all over the world.

Where it's going:
From the beginning, aggressive in-line skating has been in a constant evolution. What was once considered an American pastime has spread to include a large number of international competitors. While the first wave of Europeans swept the ranks, a new group of Australian and Japanese skaters are changing the overall performance and style of skating. Along with the athletes, the sport has matured to showcase talented competitors who demonstrate skill, strength and creativity. Currently, the largest developments in the aggressive in-line skating world pertain to the technical difficulty and height of tricks.
