A Crimean Tatar Wedding

Niyara and Elmar were married in Simferopol, Crimea, in late July 2009. The celebration of their marriage had the appearance of a modern social event, yet it incorporated many elements of a traditional Crimean Tatar wedding. Lasting three days, the wedding celebrations included a civil ceremony and a religious ceremony, conducted according to Muslim observances, and separate dinner parties given by the bride’s and groom’s families.
