Current Flag
It is a yellow-red vertical bicolour. The coat of arms is centred in the upper half. Its bottom edge is in the centre of the flag. In the lower half there are the coats of arms of Egenstedt (hoist side), Söhre (centre) and Barienrode (fly side). Their size is one qurter of the municipal shield.

Coat of Arms
Description of coat of arms:
Shield Gules; in chief a saw and an axe in saltire, over all a pit lamp, all charges Or; in base a plough Or.
Meaning:
The charges are representing forest clearance, agriculture and mining. The flag colours are the colours of the Bishopric of Hildesheim.

Egenstedt Coat of Arms
Description of coat of arms:
Shield Gules, a (reduced) Jesuits' cypher Or.
Meaning:
Bishop Ernst of Hildesheim dedicated an estate to the Society of Jesus (Jesuits Order) in 1594. The order operated the estate until 1787.

Söhre Coat of Arms
Description of coat of arms:
Shield parted per pale, at dexter barry of six of Or and Gules, at sinister Sable a church tower Argent.
Meaning:
Gold and red are the colours of the Bishopric of Hildesheim, to which the village historically belonged. The tower is the old church tower of the village.
