Description
For more than two hundred years, Telemann's unique Fantasias for solo viol remained hidden from the general public until a copy of the original 1735 print was recently discovered in the Ledenburg Collection. We are very happy to be able to make them accessible now to all gambists, and are certain that these Fantasias will soon belong to the standard repertoire of all friends of the viola da gamba. In addition to a preface by Carsten Lange and Thomas Fritzsch, our edition includes a complete facsimile and a modern edition for practical music-making.
The Ledenburg Collection in Osnabrück was discovered only in 2015. It contains primarily viol music from the time around 1750. The Works for Viola da Gamba in the Ledenburg Collection.
Errata / Addenda
[22..02.2017] Fantasias 3 and 7
G281, page 6, Presto bar
27: first chord [IS A-a, SHOULD BE A-c-e-a]. A new analysis has shown
that the two middle notes can be recognized in the manuscript very
weakly. We add them, because the chord is otherwise hardly playable.
Thanks to Jonathan Dunford.
G281, page 15, Allegro bar 11: Slur
from note 2 to 3 must be added. Thanks to Rainer Zipperling.
[19.02.2018] Fantasia 9
G281, page 19, Grave bar 3, lower
third note [IS d', SHOULD BE e']. Thanks to Jürgen Pintschovius.
