The old town is actually the oldest part of Hamburg and for many tourists the real attraction. The best known are the Chilehaus and the Kontorhäuser at Burchardplatz, but also the Sprinkenhof, Mohlenhof and Meßberghof are popular tourist destinations. How it became what it is today
Myth of St. Pauli
St. Pauli - The sinful district, known for the Reeperbahn and as a legendary entertainment hot spot. But how has this reputation developed? As a place for undesirable trades and a space for revelry, the Hamburgeer Berg was given the status of "St. Pauli-Vorstadt" in 1830. This laid the foundation for the myth of St. Pauli.
