This year, the Future Technologies Forum focused on new materials and chemistry. Scientists from HSE University participated in the event. Alexei Vagov, Director of the Centre for Quantum Metamaterials at HSE Tikhonov Moscow Institute of Electronics and Mathematics, discussed developments in quantum superconducting electronics and the creation of high-entropy materials for energy storage and perovskite solar panels.
Thai Ambassador: HSE University Is Welcome at Chiang Mai Design Week
HSE representatives met with Sasivat Wongsinsawat, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Thailand to Russia, at HSE University on Pokrovsky Bulvar. Victoria Panova, HSE University Vice Rector, Arseniy Meshcheryakov, Head of the HSE Art and Design School, and Natalia Logutova, Deputy Director of the Institute for Creative Industries Development, took part in the event. The parties discussed cooperation in the fields of education, culture, and creative industries, including HSE's participation in Chiang Mai Design Week.
HSE Researchers Adapt Popular Usability Test
A team of researchers from the HSE Faculty of Social Sciences has adapted the widely used System Usability Scale (SUS) for Russian-speaking users, testing the adaptation on a sample of 657 participants. The final adapted version of the SUS questionnaire can be used in both research and interface design practice. The paper has been published in Psychological Studies.
‘I Have Always Dreamt of Participating in an Academic Mobility Programme’
Amal Saidov is a 2022 graduate of the Bachelor's programme 'Economics'. During his studies, Amal made the most of the opportunities available at HSE University: he participated in an academic mobility programme, spent a year in Spain, got transferred to a state-funded place, and participated in case championships and educational schools. This experience helped him to start a career in the Big Four, work in several countries, and continue his career path as a senior consultant at B1 .

Tobias Vilhena de Moraes is a historian working at Museu Lasar Segall in São Paulo, Brazil, and a faculty member of the Institute of Philosophy and Human Sciences at the University of Campinas. He is now working on a master’s degree at HSE University-St Petersburg.
Acoustic Battles for the Harem: How the Calls of Siberian Wapiti Reveal Their Status and Individuality
Researchers at HSE University, Lomonosov Moscow State University, and the Severtsov Institute of Ecology and Evolution have studied the distinctive vocalisations of Siberian wapiti stags during the peak of the mating season, when males produce rutting calls to attract females and deter rivals. The scientists have discovered how the acoustic parameters of these rutting calls reflect the stag's status, as well as his individual characteristics. The study has been published in Journal of Zoology.
HSE Project Ranks in Top 10 at StudFest Student Entrepreneurship Festival
The ViSaver project—a service for instant in-video search, generating time codes, summaries, and test questions based on video content—made it into the top ten of the ‘I Create Business’ competition track at this year's StudFest International Student Entrepreneurship Festival. Anastasia Semenova, founder of ViSaver and graduate of HSE University’s St Petersburg School of Economics and Management, spoke to the HSE News Service about the project.

Adila Ulfia Maula Tontowi is a student of the Bachelor’s in Foreign Languages and Intercultural Communication. The university's international environment and well-designed accommodation made it easier for me to live and study in Moscow, even without speaking Russian.
What I appreciate most about the curriculum is its interdisciplinary approach, combining elements of neuroscience, psychology, and computational modelling. This has allowed me to deepen my understanding of the human brain while also exploring its impact on behaviour, emotions, and learning.
In the doctoral programme, research was more important that studying certain subjects. My academic supervisor offered a lot of assistance, including mentoring in terms of methodology and the direction of the research.
Hospitality and a welcoming attitude are everywhere at HSE University, and the staff are ready to lend a hand with whatever problem you may have. Here on campus, classics and modernity form an amazing blend, permeating the indoor atmosphere.
I had very friendly coursemates who were always willing to help me, explaining the points that I missed during lectures or seminars. The most valuable lesson I’ve learned from my time at HSE University is that you need to work hard and never give up on your dreams.
