One wonders whether you were in Beneras or in our very own Hyderabad entering the seven-acre plot in the Annapurna Studio complex, a true-to-life replica of a part of the holy city, the colossal setting authentic and complete with the holy shrine of Lord Visweswara. The taste of the producer and the craftsmanship of the art director and his unit the evident everywhere, the shooting latest blockbuster Indra progresses. After a long gap, Chiranjeevi will be once again seen in a role for which he won a huge fan following over the years, that of a macho star. Sonali Bendre and Arthi Agarwal play the female lead. The combination of storywriter Chinni Krishna, dialogue writers Paruchuri Brothers and director B. Gopal are teamed one more time with a subject based on the factionism in Rayalaseema province. Vyjayanthi Movies is celebrating its silver jubilee year and thus producer Aswini Dutt decided to present an extravagant fare to the filmgoers. "For such a big project, Chiranjeevi is the only hero who can make it viable. There are many among the audience who would like to see places but are not able to do so for various reasons. I always have this feel for them and that is the reason, I made Choodalani Undi with a Kolkata backdrop. Now we are showing the holy city of Kasi in all its splendor. The important places in the city are shown through a song the hero renders. We also have another set at Ramoji Film City where we have created a Rayalaseema village. The climax portions and some key scenes will be filmed there. Though it has a factionist theme, the main emphasis is on human drama rather than factionism," he observes. About his role, Megastar Chiranjeevi reflects, "There must be a cause behind every person who seeks vengeance, be it right or wrong. But if it goes on for generations, then there will be on end to the mayhem. Peace can never prevail under such circumstances. Some one should put a stop to it. And that person naturally should have humane qualities of forgiveness and kind-heartedness. My role is a combination of both. This film will appeal to all sections of audiences." But there is a ferocious side to his character too. It surfaces in the second half of the movie, as conceived in the plot. Of the six melodious songs scored by Manisharma (one of these songs by RP Patnaik), two duets were shot in Switzerland. The Yagasala scene with over two thousand junior artistes and the lead actors participating is one of the major sequences. "You must be wondering what the pious Varanasi backdrop would have in common with the factionist Rayalaseema background. That forms the suspense part. To know more, you will have to wait will July 24 -the date on which the film is scheduled for release," says Aswini Dutt. Prakash Raj, Mukesh Rishi, Punit Issar, S.P. Balasubrahmnayam, Brahmanandam, Bharani, M.S. Narayana, A.V.S., Siviaji, and Dharmavarapu Subrahmanyam comprise the cast.
