Jordan Murray's first professional hat trick included the winner, as the Belleville Senators defeated the Rochester Americans 5-4 in an AHL regular-season contest Saturday night at Yardmen Arena.

Sens 5, Amerks 4 (O.T.)

Murray, a two-time Defenceman of the Year in the USports Canadian university league with the UNB Red Raiders, decided the outcome with just 56 seconds remaining in O.T., allowing Belleville to split the weekend series with Rochester after the Amerks beat the B-Sens 4-2 on Friday night.

On the B-Sens website, Murray said his goal was “a huge confidence boost.”

Belleville goals in regulation time were scored by Murray (2), Thomas Chabot, Max McCormick and Francis Perron. Andrew Hammond posted 19 saves for the W in the B-Sens net.

Amerks 4, B-Sens 2

On Friday night, three turnovers and a hot goalie spelled doom for Belleville. The visiting Americans converted three B-Sens giveaways into goals and Swedish import Linus Ullmark was strong in the visitors' net with 38 saves.

Max Reinhart and Gabriel Gagne scored for Belleville.

ON DECK: Wednesday vs. Lehigh Valley, 7 p.m. at Yardmen Arena.

JUNIOR HOCKEY

Jackson Arcan notched the lone Wellington Dukes goal in a 6-1 loss to the Aurora Tigers Saturday at Aurora. Keegan Ferguson drew the lone assist.

On Friday, Dukes blew a two-goal lead but held on for a 4-4 double O.T. tie with the visiting Newmarket Hurricanes.

On goals by Geoff Lawson, Ben Evans, Mitchell Martan and Eric Uba, Dukes carried a 4-2 lead into the second half of the third period. But Newmarket rallied with two goals, including the tying tally by Owen Ramsay at 14:20.

Two overtime stanzas decided nothing.

Jonah Capriotti was in goal for Wellington, making 31 saves; Dukes fired 38 shots at the Newmarket net.

Power plays were: Dukes, 0-for-2; Newmarket, 2-for-6.

Attendance was announced as 442.

ON DECK: Friday vs. Cobourg, 7:30 p.m. at Essroc Arena.

Shaun Bily played hero Friday night at Community Gardens, lifting the hometown Trenton Golden Hawks to a 3-2 O.T. victory over the Aurora Tigers with the game-winning goal in the extra frame from Mac Lewis and Caleb Boman at 4:33.

Max Ewart and Tiger McDonald had the earlier TGH goals. McDonald's effort, at 17:02 of Period 3, tied the tilt.

Shots favoured Aurora, 45-34, with James Povall making 43 stops for the G-Hawks.

Power plays were: TGH, 1-for-4; Aurora, 0-for-2.

The hometown Raiders fired 40 shots at Picton netminder Wesley Werner, scoring three goals in the first period and one each in the second and third frames.
