Comments: Addition to my last post about my grandfather.

He’s read some of the names here and recognize some of them! If anyone from 57th FA, Baker Battery remembers a Korean US artilleryman Park, “Jake” Hak-Gwan. Please reach out. Comments: My grandfather fought in the Korean War as an artilleryman in the 57th Artillery BN, 7th IN DIV. His name is Park, Hak-Gwan (“wise man” nicknamed by his comrades) he was the shortest one in the BN and one of the few native Koreans serving in the US Army at the time. He’s getting quite elderly now and was hoping to see any of his veteran friends if they’re still alive. He moved up from PVT to SSG throughout his time with the US Army before transitioning to the ROK army as SFC.

He entered the war through the Incheon Landing, all through the battles up in Chosin Reservoir where he was wounded under the right arm pit when the Chinese came in. He was sent to a medical tent with the 121st, 8th IN DIV.

If there is anyone who served in the 57th Artillery during the Korean War, please send a message -I’d love to let my grandfather know so he can try to reconnect with his buddies he joked around and played pranks with. Thank you!
