UPDATE AS OF 9:53 am on 8/26/2023: MOST CURRENT STORM OUTAGE UPDATE FROM FIRST ENERGY
Please treat all downed wires as live and dangerous: • CEI currently has 48,500 customers out of power down from a peak of 155,000 early yesterday • Although power has been restored to over 106,000 customers since yesterday morning, please know that repair efforts are becoming more tedious as repairs are being made to equipment which benefit smaller number of customers • A global estimate time of restoral for all customers is Wednesday at 4 PM. Note: customers will continue to be restored throughout this weekend and beginning of the week; however, the smaller outages including single no light calls will likely see restoration more towards mid-week • Additional outside crews continue to join our restoration efforts, so it is quite possible you may see contracted and other company vehicles throughout your neighborhood • Hundreds of damaged locations require significant tree work to allow line crews access to make repairs. Note – tree debris will not be removed from these locations as this is the responsibility of the property owner • All crews are working 16 hour shifts with eight hours rest and will continue doing so until all power is restored • Customers who have experienced a service interruption due to the storm are encouraged to report their outage if they have not already done so by calling 1-888-LIGHTSS (1-888-544-4877), texting OUT to LIGHTS (544487) or clicking the “Report Outage” link on www.firstenergycorp.com/outages • Power restoration information plus more may be found at: https://firstenergycorp.com/outages_help.html For safety and most expeditious repair: • We secure known hazards (downed wires) first. This is a priority. Treat all downed wires as live and dangerous. • We give priority to hospitals, police and fire departments and other critical facilities • Then repair transmission lines and substations that supply power to the local system • We then focus repairs to restore the largest number of customers
