A career getaway driver on the run from American authorities is arrested by corrupt Mexican police officers Romero and Vasquez after crashing through their country's border fence, whereupon he is stripped of the $2,000,000 in cash in his possession and sent to a harsh prison known as "El Pueblito". Earning a nickname of "The Gringo" for being one of the only American nationals housed in the prison, he quickly befriends a young boy being protected by other criminals for unknown reasons, utilizing their friendship to help himself adapt to incarceration in an alien society.
