Olympedia – Johnny Spillane
With his three silver medals in Nordic combined at the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics, Johnny Spillane has the most Olympic medals of any American in the sport. He is one of only seven Nordic combined Olympians from any nation to win three medals at a single Winter Olympics.
Spillane also competed at the 2002 and 2006 Olympic Winter Games and was an alternate to the 1998 Nagano Winter Olympic team. He was World Champion in the sprint event in 2003, the first American to win an international gold medal in a Nordic skiing event.
Spillane retired from racing in 2013. An avid fisherman, he later became the owner of Steamboat Flyfisher and Trout Creek Flies.
