Olympedia – George Breed
Biography
George Breed won the Intercollegiate Fencing Association (IFA) title in 1899 and led Harvard to the team title that year. He later won the Amateur Fencers League of America (AFLA) titles in foil and épée in 1911. At the 1908 AFLA Championships he won bronze medals in foil, épée, and 3-weapon, while in 1909 he won silver medals in foil and 3-weapon and another bronze in épée. Breed was captain of the 1912 US Olympic fencing team. He fenced both foil and épée at the 1912 and 1924 Olympics. Breed was inducted into the Harvard Varsity Club Hall of Fame in 1972.
